It hasn’t been established or deconfirmed. Virgin or not, Spike wants Rarity. Simple as that. That said, he’s got his history with Gabby. My thought here is they cut things off because their long distance made things difficult.

Has it been established that Spike has had sex before he started this quest? The intro of the comic makes it seem as if he’s not so much touched a female since he’s been “saving himself” for Rarity only for everything to spiral out of control at this point.

Depends on the number of panels and how much is animated. A still panel can take a couple of hours while an animated one can take a whole day or more.
I actually wanted to get more pages out last month, but I was really busy trying to get an alpha build ready for a game project I’ve been working on. It’d been dormant for a long time because of technical problems getting in the way. I ended up having to do a complete rebuild of the entire thing so that it could run better for people.

Hey cloppy hooves. Im not complaining here, but how long does it take you to finish a comic strip on average?

It’d been established early into the comic that Spike was going through another molt. It was Rarity early in who noticed the spots on his elbow.

He’s been taking a spray based molt potion that he got from Zecora (something other than the love potion that he also got from her.)
This potion clears away the side effects of molting. His spots aren’t itchy and smelly and he’s got control of his voice and fire.

If you look carefully over the last several pages you’d actually see that his left arm has started to show more spots.

The unfortunate thing about this comic being so long running is it’s easy to forget little things that were set up almost 5 years ago.
