After the arrival of the Stranded Seven and Harmony’s influence of how the path of certain events would transpire, Thorax didn’t have his chance encounter with Spike. Instead, he was chased down by his brother, Phyrnax, and three other changelings. Of course, that was after narrowly surviving the darkness that would have destroyed their world and the return of other dark creatures shortly thereafter. He managed to escape, but that led him to meet Rainbow Dash and Spitfire, who had narrowly escaped a deadly freezing storm of enchanted ice clouds. Now, stuck in the caves of Mount Everhoof, his thoughts return the last time he interacted with ponies. The last time he was truly with his kin.

What happened? What did that darkness do to him? Why did red liquid leak from his broken shell when he was not in his disguise?
