Commision|Pony|”Become ponyself”
Another commission for RayonatheIceQueen🧡
Working on this order took me a lot of effort, but I was really able to do a lot! It was the first time I designed a cutiemark and the first time I wrote a good (probably, lol) story in English (definitely)
Thanks a lot!

Become ponyself
Friendship. A very powerful word. The magic of friendship has never faded over the years, keeping true friends connected for life. This magic can be used by anyone, including Earth ponies, pegasi, and unicorns. And dozens of other species that can exist! A good friend can be a bison, a changeling, and even…
“A giant dragon!” A colt with short, dark blue mane ran with the best of his ability, warning the other citizens of the village of the danger. “A horrible monster just came out of the woods! Everypony, hide!”
Lately, the Dark Forest has been causing more problems than it was worth. And today was one of those days when the sentry was running like lightning, warning everyone. From above, the ponies’ fussing looked like an awkward dance of marshmallows in a cocoa cup. White and pink, yellow and pale blue. They quickly ran away to their homes to save their own lives.
And only the “monster” stood confused at the edge of the forest, covered with leaves and twigs. Suddenly, a loud roar rang out, forcing the last of the brave souls to close the shutters. But it didn’t sound like the growl of a hungry monster. The dragon girl, who for a reason did not look like an ordinary dragon, not scaly and covered with spikes, clutched her belly ashamed and jumped back into the bushes, hiding in the woods. Tears welled up in her eyes. She stopped only when the village was lost behind the thick tree canopies, leaned against one of them and sat down on the ground, hugging her soft tail with a bristle at the end. She covered herself with her soft wings, as if trying to protect herself. Her big fluffy ears drooped down sadly. Because she had been wandering in the forest for a long time, her beautiful white fur was a little mussed and her hair was disheveled. The dragoness took a few twigs out of her hair and sighed. Who knew that following the “strange blue glow” into the woods was a terrible idea? The only thing missing was the rain, so that Maddy could call it “The Worst Day of my life.”
“But they were so cute!” She shouted it at the sky, clutching her ears.
Indeed, if she hadn’t watched these “indescribably adorable clouds of cotton candy” for so long, as Maddy first thought of them, she wouldn’t have had time to get hungry and spook the sentry who was walking by. The girl stood up in frustration, wiping away tears.
“I guess I’ll have to keep looking for a way out.” Her gaze turned to the dense forest ahead and she swallowed, uncomfortable with the sight. But there was no other choice.
A shiver ran down her back, curving around each of her spikes. Her fur stood on end. A small figure ran up behind her, causing the bushes to shake.
“Who’s there? Don’t touch me!” Maddy looked around, but saw no one. But when she turned back toward the forest, she yelled out aloud.
Someone in a dark cloak appeared beside, mysterious and ominous. Of course, Maddy, as a “big and terrible dragon,” could have fought back and run away, but she was petrified of fear. The stranger took off his hood.
“That hidden road only leads to the grave, tell me, child, what is your name?” A zebra with light blue eyes and odd jewelry that the girl had never seen before was standing right in front of the dragoness. Overcoming a fear, she replied.
“M-Maddy. My name is Maddy! I’m lost, please help me!”
The zebra looked at the girl questioningly, as if to appraise her. But her hopeless look only made Zekora sigh.
“You’ve been on this road for a long time, do you mind walking a little while? I know all the local fauna and flora, so let’s introduce you, my name is Zekora.” She nodded to her, offering to follow her. Maddy silently agreed, following along. “You are not a woods monster, and this is so well, but everypony was scared as hell. This forest brought them a lot of bad luck, so it is no wonder you got also stuck. But it’s not a problem, you can trust me. So what should I do and how should you will be?”
The dragoness liked Zekora a lot. She was polite, spoke in a funny way, and carefully listened to Maddy’s story. She told her about the mysterious glow and how she had accidentally scared a pony in the village. Zebra realized that she could not leave the girl in trouble. Soon they came to a strange tree that looked more like someone’s house. It was decorated with many interesting masks, pots, and covered by thick vines. Lush greenery hid this place from curious eyes. The zebra opened the door, inviting the dragoness in.
“Isn’t this going to be weird? Aren’t you afraid of me?” Maddy still couldn’t believe that Zekora wasn’t scared of her, but she was calm and just smiled kindly.
“I live in the forest and see a lot of things, a strange creatures, their hooves and their wings. I didn’t expect such a question from you, I’m not afraid of and you know that too.”
“No, no, everything is fine!” The girl did not have any hesitation in going inside the house, which seemed a little too small. But it was very interesting!
Pots and masks painted with bright yellow, green, and brown colors were inside as well. The place smelled of burnt hay and sweet fruit juice. Zekora gave Maddy some food and water. While the girl was trying to chew enthusiastically on the rather strange but tasty root, the zebra quietly plucked off a small piece of white fur and threw it into its large cauldron in the middle of the hut. The liquid inside rose up with orange foam, and when it settled, the zebra began to look at something on the almost mirror-like surface.
“Only bypassing the north and east side, you can finish your exhausting long ride. Go south, turn to the west where your eyes may see, there will be your home, there you will be free.”
Maddy took a big gulp of the glass and licked her lips. It was wonderful! She could go back home right now, but she saw her own reflection in the cup… and she was upset. Were those ponies right to call her a monster? Tears started to flow down her cute fluffy cheeks again.
“You can come home soon, is that so bad? Why, my dear, you become so sad?” Zekora kept stirring the liquid in the cauldron, sometimes glancing at her guest. She was making sure she was comfortable. Maddy went to her and hugged her, barely holding back her feelings. The zebra stroked her shoulder with her hoof, soothing her.
“I am so ashamed in the eyes of the villagers! I’d like to apologize, but…” the girl looked at her hands, as if stating the simple fact. “But I’m the big, scary dragon they were so terrified of,” she didn’t dare say.
“Your problem has one solution i guess, drink this liquid and you will get success!” Zekora scooped some of the magic potion out of the cauldron and took one of the strange vials from one the shelves.
The fluid inside the bottle was transparent, but after one drop of that mysterious potion, it turned orange and began to shimmer with a strange glow. Maddy stared at the dance of sparkles in the glass like a mesmerized. Zebra handed her the drink and nodded in approval. The dragoness gathered up her courage and, casting aside all doubts, quickly drank the sparkling potion. It tasted very much like dandelion tea and cotton candy, like exploding caramel and something so strange that it stung her tongue a little. A majestic wave of magic swept through girl’s body, making her feel warm and soft. She shut down her eyes. Behind her blindfold she saw yellow and red flashes, peaceful and joyful. Small transparent pony figures flashed behind her eyes, scattering bright sparkles. They seemed so real and sweet and cuddly that Maddy reached out to them as if to hug them, but when she tried to move her fingers, she couldn’t.
“What the…” She opened her eyes despite the blinding light that pierced her entire body. The world was slowly getting smaller. No, rather, it was becoming “just perfect” for her. Now she could finally open her wings! Maddy floated smoothly above the floor without even touching it. Instead of the usual paws, she had hooves, but they seemed so comfortable and familiar that they caused neither pain nor distress. She fluttered her wings, but they also became unusual, turning into feathers. Small lights enveloped her fur and she shone like a firefly. “It was amazing! Thank you so much, Zekora!”
The girl’s whole body was shaking happily, she was jumping up and down with happiness and could not stop admiring her new wings and her new tail, which now did not look like a dragon’s. She had become a real pony! Now she could go to that village and apologize… and maybe even make some new friends! Maddy’s heart began to beat even faster with excitement.
“There is one drawback to the spell, and all of magician know it as well. If you touch clear water, you will become a dragon again.”
But Maddy was so excited that she ignored most of Zekora’s words, even though she tried to warn her about something. After thanking her again for her kindness, she happily rode off to the village.
“Are you sure everything’s okay?” The filly with curly green hair with yellow flecks looked worriedly toward the woods. On her flanks hung large bags full of paper flowers and ribbons, decorations for today’s celebration, which was almost disrupted by such an unpleasant incident. “The City Day was disrupted by a monster attack!” These would have been the headlines in the newspapers the next day.
“Yes, I saw the monster escape with my own eyes!” That one dark blue sentry was standing next to her. His shift was over and now he was still hanging around, helping someponies to decorate their house. “Don’t worry, lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice!”
“But we have problems not with lightning, but with monsters. We can get rid of lightning at least by asking for dispersing the clouds in time…”
“Where’s your optimism, sugarcube?” the colt teasingly poked his friend in the shoulder, causing her shawl to slip over her eyes and she had to pull it back. The curly pony sighed. She would need more help than that. She had been busy making these amazing decorations since the morning and the fact that the party could be ruined was very disappointing. Indeed, where was the smile on her face?
“Hello!” the white-furred stranger was full of energy and had a big smile on her face. The two screamed and the filly dropped several of the decorations from her hooves, very spooked. But Maddy picked one up and helped her hang it on the wall.
“Hello?” the first to speak was the colt, looking at the pony a little surprised. “Who are you? I haven’t seen you here before, have I?”
“Oh, that can be fixed, my name is Maddy, what’s yours?” The jewelry fell from her hooves and she began to shake the guard’s hoof, greeting him. This gesture seemed strange to him.
“My name is Bolt, and this is Jasper, and you… what’s on your head?” - by the expression on his muzzle, one could realize that something was really wrong with the stranger. The filly touched her head and realized that these were her horns! This was probably what Zekora wanted to warn her about. She was embarrassed, and sweat beaded on her forehead.
“Аh… Uh… I just…” she tried to lie, but nothing came to mind. “I’m just a Kirin! I heard that you were having a festival here, so I thought I’d come and visit!” She bit her lower lip and smiled awkwardly.
“A Kirin? I’ve never seen a Kirin before… I only know that they look strange and have unusual horns. Oh, no, I didn’t mean to be offensive! You look great!” The filly looked worried, but she didn’t feel in any danger from Maddy. “It’s very nice of you to come all the way from so far off.” She smiled and continued decorating the house. The colt’s gaze showed some doubt. There was something recognizable about this strange pony with horns. Maddy laughed out loud again and took some of the ornaments from the pony’s backpack to keep assisting with the decorations.
“Let me give you a helping hoof! I know I don’t have to, but you’re all so nice here, and as a guest, I can’t stay away!” The sentry squinted, but the curly-haired filly nudged him aside. Better to let him get out of the way, unless he’s only capable of spooking guests. He walked away, but still suspected something. And his intense gaze made Maddy’s fur rise.
So time passed in work and talking. Jasper chatted very sweetly with Maddie, telling her about herself and their village. The hidden dragoness was all the time very fascinated by how polite and nice the ponies were to her. No one but the sentry looked at her with suspicion. Evening came, the lanterns were lit in the streets of the town, and visitors were already gathered on the main square with food and drinks. There were balloons hanging everywhere and the that one decorations. Maddy was very amazed at this. How can ponies create such beauty without having fingers or magic? Fireflies and moths were flying everywhere, and all the ponies were having fun and talking. On a small scene on the lawn were musicians playing some amazing melodies. She stayed close to Jasper and listened to her wonderful stories about the forest and the sometimes terrible monsters that sometimes came out of it.
“But we have Zekora! She is a real keeper. As soon as we have trouble, she can solve it in a second. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she also dealt with that horrible dragon or whatever it was. I wonder when she’ll be here?”
“Oh, is Zekora going to come here? “ Maddy’s ears twitched and stood up, and she looked at her new friend in surprise.
“Do you know each other?” Jasper was a little surprised by that, but she wasn’t an expert on other species, so she didn’t really know what was typical behavior for any of them.
“Hmm, she told me about the party you were having here.” The filly looked away hiding her stare and began to eat the sweets that the new friend had brought her before.
Jasper felt silly. Her eyes fell on the cider cup that was being offered to the visitors. Seeing the relish Maddy was enjoying the treat, she asked:
“Are you thirsty?” She pushed a cup toward her and a few drops spilled onto the table. Seeing the full cup of drink, the hidden dragoness almost turned pale to the tip of her tail. She jumped away in fright.
“No, no. I’m sorry, I’m on a… a liquid-free diet, very popular among the Kirin!” Maddy started laughing again and swallowed her meal with difficulty. However… she could use a drink.
“Aha, gotcha!” A stallion with a dark blue mane jumped out of the bushes. He had been watching the strange behavior of the newcomer for a while, and now he caught her hot. A witch! A thief! He grabbed the cup and threw it at Maddy, making her get completely wet. But… nothing happened.
Maddy, afraid, wiped her face with a hoof and… was even happy.
“Ha! Nothing happened!” she brushed off the cider, all sticky and smelling like apples.
“Bolt, how dare you!” Jasper was ashamed of this, and she handed her friend a wet napkin to wipe her muzzle. A napkin soaked in clean, just plain water. And while the stallion was trying to make excuses to her friend and the others, Maddy felt that strange change in his body again. All the fur stood up.
“Oh, my…” was all she could say before the magical lights lifted her up and began to spin her around in orange and yellow sparkles. She could feel herself becoming too big for this world again, the ponies becoming smaller. Her usual wings and limbs were back. Somepony screamed out loud and the ponies began to spread out, running away from the lawn.
“No…” She desperately whispered, watching even Jasper become shaken and start to run away. “Please, no!”
But no matter how much she begged, soon she was the only one left. The “giant and terrible dragon” was sitting on the ground, completely alone, with a tail tucked under her body. Unable to bear it, Maddy cried so loudly that birds flew up from the trees nearby and left. The party was ruined. But when the dragoness was wiping the heavy tears from her furry cheeks, she saw the same green curly mane down below. The pony looked scared but confident.
“Jasper, I’m sorry! I lied! I’m not who I say I am. But you’ve been so sweet to me. At first, I was helping as an apology, but I just couldn’t bring myself to let go earlier!” Her words were really honest and the pony even looked calmer and less nervous.
“It’s okay, Maddy. You didn’t have to lie to us to get a good attitude, but it was very nice of you to come back and help us. Everypony here can see that you’re not bad and you don’t want to harm us.”
She boldly touched her soft fur and patted it. Maddy grabbed her friend, causing all the ponies to take a scared breath, but when they saw that she was just giving her a very heartfelt hug, they breathed a sigh of relief.
The party continued, and the dark blue sentry apologized to the dragoness for his misbehavior, but she was not angry. Thanks to him, she no longer had to lie to be acceptable. The stars were lighting up one by one, and Maddy knew that she would be using the clues in the morning and heading home. But now she was having fun with her new friends, and time seemed to have stopped for her, turned into a magical web with the story of a new friendship woven on it.
…And only Zekora was looking at the party from the shadows of the woods, smiling. Another lesson in friendship has been learned.
