Where have I been? Well, here is the explanation.
Here’s the explanation for why I’ve been inactive as of late.
*The reasons for me being inactive start back in July, so the last three months. So, it all started in July when my parents called the Real Estate Agent to come to the house, I didn’t really listen on much that day, but later, I found out what they were speaking about. They made the decision to sale their house, and that was when the chaos started. You see, between that and the first week of August, the house had to get cleaned from top to bottom to make it presentable for viewings and stuff. So that unfortunately meant, from dawn to dusk, I’ve been having to help scrub the house and pick up the yard, so I had no motivation at the end of the day to get my computer and draw. And I would say, this happened over the course of three weeks, with the last weekend before the house went on market being the worse. And let me say this, there was a lot of nasty things due to years of buildup. I mostly did the yard stuff. *
*On August 9th, the house went on market, basically being for sale and every other day for a month it felt like, I had to leave the house so that potential buyers could look at the house, a few times having to stay in the camper. Another thing I’ve been having to do was to go with my dad to the garbage dump to dispose of unwanted things from the house and garbage, and I would say, I had to take like 10 trips in that timespan. There wasn’t much peace in that time frame. Then a month after the house going on Market, it got sold and that I would say was when the chaos got worse. *
Not only did the house got sold, but we had to be out of the house by October 5, that was why I went on Semi-Hiatus this past month because I had to spend the last couple weeks prior to leaving the house, packing everything up, cleaning the house, and oh…having to help lift stuff that costed my left knee, getting sprained, but don’t worry, I didn’t need medical treatment and it’s healed again. And the other stressful thing, there were two health emergencies, had nothing to do with me, but with my parents, one of them got an injury in the right hand from a fall, and the other had to get an emergency Stent, so those aspects meant, I had to do more stuff than ever! You can now see why I didn’t have much time for my computer. I had to be the muscle for them, but thankfully there was help but it involved me and a couple of the family members and friends who helped load the heavy crap.
*Despite the health emergencies, my parents had to rent out a giant storage truck to get all the crap in there, and oh, they only had a few days to do it, so everything basically got packed a week before we had to be out of the house so for that last week, I had to sleep on a pad, which was so uncomfortable, and only had my bag I had to pack for my clothes and toiletries. For furniture, recliner chairs were used. My parents had to sleep out in the camper. And being autumn, the house was freezing cold because they didn’t want to use the heater. Despite it all, my aunt and uncle rented a storage trailer for them to use, so on the day they took just about everything out, it was brought to their place and it stayed there for basically a month, so that was a bonus. In that last week, I had to scrub the house one last time, in fact, on the night they took all the major stuff to the storage trailer, I was scrubbing the house until 10-11 O’clock at night. *
*Then came actual moving day on October 5th, taking as much stuff as we could for that day, including loading the pets up in the cars and taking the camper (Scamp), and then having to take that two hour drive north bound to the very house my aunt and uncle lived in. That was probably the most stressful day of all. Things were easier for me from there, but my parents had to take one last trip to the old house to pick up the rest of the stuff and get it out of the house, with I believe my step sister and her partner (they’re not married but they’ve been together for a very long time, and they have kids), picked up the old riding lawnmower. After that, it was a complete blur. *
*So, for the last three weeks, until yesterday, I’ve been living at the relatives house, my parents and pets living in the camper and outside kennel, and I actually staying in the house which was pretty busy all the time, because they have three kids under 13, in fact, I haven’t really been able to sleep in because the kids were unintentional alarm clocks every morning. Despite all of those negatives, the family living in the area were so happy to have us there, and I’ve actually have done a few events with them since arrival. On the first weekend, I went with them to attend the counties’ annual farm festivals, having a pizza night at my other relatives house where I tried Chicago Style Pizza for the first time (I don’t live in Chicago, so the pizza was imported from there, being shipped in dry ice), going to the trampoline park with my younger cousins, attending the Night Market on the second weekend, and last weekend, going back down south again to attend my nephews’ first birthday party. I also celebrated my other aunt’s birthday and went to one of my cousins Halloween Dance Recital where her group danced to Michael Jackson’s song; Ghosts (which I’m now hooked, on the song). So I’ve basically been on my feet. My sisters and in-laws, with their young children (nieces and nephews), have stayed over on two of those weekends for one night. I’ve also went to lunch with other family members last Sunday and got to catch up. *
*During that time, my parents were house hunting daily, and I think just a couple weeks ago, they got the house they really liked, and soon enough, they got the house. They signed the papers on Wednesday, and I actually got to step foot inside the new house on Thursday. Friday, I did some yard work, while they painted their master bedroom because they didn’t like the previous color. And on Thursday, we shopped for food for the new house, which they gladly placed in the pantry and in the fridge, also getting towels and toilet paper. As of yesterday, I’m now in the new house. To make things easier, due to my parents not so great health right now and to make things easier on me, they hired people to take the items out of the storage trailer and take to the house, so right now, there’s boxes everywhere! Especially in the garage. So lots to unpack. I’ve already unpacked my bathroom and placed my clothes back in my dresser and hung them up, the only thing needed for my room is to get my bed frame put back together and arrange the room to how I want it. *
Let me tell you, I’m so happy to have my own room again and have some quiet. Another great bonus, I will finally start getting the opportunity to learn how to be more independent and take the transit they have available, which my family is excited for me to do. Where I now live, it’s a decent walk to the nearest bus stop but it will work, so it will give me more exercise. Although these three weeks have been for chaotic for my parents, those three weeks were relatively relaxing for me, which was for the first time in three months! I’m just so happy that the move is over and the only thing now is unpack the boxes.
Summary (For those who don’t want to read my long writing):
I’ve been busy for the past three months due to my parents making the decision to sale the house. I’ve been having to be more busy as a result, cleaning the house, doing more yard work, and help take stuff out. Even packing the boxes. I don’t want to specify the reasons for the move, but all that matters is, my family are happy that we’re here. The house went on Market on August 9th and got sold in September, out of the house by October 5th. I spent these past three weeks with relatives while house hunting and a couple weeks in, the ideal house was found. In between, I went to a lot of events with the family, which I had fun. My parents got the key on Wednesday and yesterday on the 28th, we finally moved into the new house. My parents hired people to move all the stuff from the storage trailer that my aunt and uncle rented to keep our stuff in. So right now, there are boxes everywhere that need to be unpacked, especially the ones in the garage.
I’m back after all of this time and hope to get things going again. I will be drawing a Halloween piece so keep your eyes peeled for that post. This move has been so exhausting for me. At least the new house I live in is only a rental house, thank goodness. And btw (by the way), happy spook season everyone!
My irl sona, Brooke laying there exhausted with labeled boxes behind her. That’s literally how I’ve been feeling.
