ItIn my headcannon, Midnight Sparkle returns because of Equestrian Twylight’s sins spilling dark magic. And she kidnaps Sci-Twi to use as cheese to lure Sunset to her, exploiting her compassion. But Sunset proves compassion is a strength instead of weakness.
