Here are my favorite ponies from My Little Pony’s 4th generation, Friendship is Magic, and 5th generation, The New Generation - Twilight Sparkle and Zipp Storm.
Although I have many favorite characters in My Little Pony’s G4, including Sunset Shimmer, Twilight remains my prime favorite, and this is mostly because I relate to her the most. She loves books and reading, studying new subjects, we can be worrywarts, temperamental, would keep to ourselves now and again, like to be organized, and share knowledge. Her studies and skills in magic also awakened my old love for it, and I wish that I can be a wizard myself. And even after she became a princess, she’s very humble and cares only for Equestria’s safety, for her best friends, and for showing everybody that friendship is magic. Whether she was a Unicorn, an Alicorn, or a human, she’s still that intelligent, wonderful pony I’ve come to love, and always will be.
In My Little Pony’s G5, the one character I am drawn to the most is Zipp. At first, I thought she would be more like Rainbow Dash in that she’s an athletic daredevil, and fearless, independent thrill-seeker. However, she was also revealed to be very intelligent via her research into and knowledge of Equestria’s distant past, coupled with equations she uses for flight theory. This reminds me of Twilight. And just like our beloved Purple Smart Bookhorse, Zipp is humble, preferring to be called by her name rather than use her royal title, and isn’t comfortable being in the spotlight. Instead of focusing on preparing to be the next ruler of Zephyr Heights, she prefers to be with her friends, take part in extreme sports, and dedicate herself to her newfound detective position, relishing in any chance to undergo investigations, and taking phone notes. And I guess the cherry on top is that I relate to her in that we both have trouble deciding what we really want to do with our lives.
