Applebat is the son of Fluttershy and Big Mac, though he tends to take after his mother both in build and in personality. He’s extremely self-conscious and anxious, and, like his father, he’s also very quiet. He often worries that he’s not living up to the Apple family’s legacy, as he’s not very strong nor is he any good at growing and harvesting apples. The last thing he wants to do is disappoint his father, but although Big Mac isn’t often very good at saying it, he is very proud of Applebat and knows that Sweet Apple Acres will be in good hooves regardless of Applebat’s second-guessing. Applebat has a special connection with the vampire fruit bats, and helps direct them away from the main orchard and into a small area grown specifically for them. While the vampire fruit bats are his favorites, he has a connection with all of the different animals that rely on Sweet Apple Acres for food and shelter, and often has more patience with these ‘pests’ than the rest of the Apples. He has a pet vampire fruit bat and dyes his mane and tail black.
