After school Junkers often had extra classes - paid for by his parents but his teacher noticed early on he had no friends beside Midnight Gleam, a sweet little filly, and decided that some evenings he would send him to learn with Midnight Gleam’s mother, an astrologist. Usually he would end up spending those late nights with Midnight herself sitting either outside gazing at the sky with her and pondering about the world and universe or huddling together below the large telescope listening to her explain constellations, planets and the stars.
He was impressed with her vast knowledge of the stars for someone of his own age, especially another Earth Pony but her mother had taught her a lot and Midnight admitted to him in secret that she would get visits from a strange mare every now and then who would tell her about the beauty and secrets of the sky. At first he thought she was just talking about weird dreams but one evening when he fell asleep at their house he did spot a cloaked figure talking to Midnight in whispers at a window before disappearing into the darkened sky like a phantom. True to his promise he never mentioned it to anyone.
Those hours of wonderous stargazing together would become both of their most treasured memories.
For no dreams could ever be as pure and full of hope as those of a foal.
