How about start with a hayburger, seasoned fries and an apple juice, then if we’re still hungry after we’ve eaten that, nab a brownie and a banana smoothie?
You decide to keep it simple, and pick yourself a most typical festival meal: an all-dressed hayburger with a side of seasoned potato fries.
While picking out your drinks, Moonflower hesitates between apple and pear juice. You and Apple Basket agree to take one box of each respectively — along with some extra straws —, and share them with her.
Then, on your way back around the buffet, you sneak an extra brownie and a banana smoothie onto your tray for dessert. You don’t need to be hungry to eat those, after all!
Finally, you join your friends as they reclaim their seats at the now lamp-lit table, each placing down their unique arrangements of foodstuffs. You find that Dawn Break and Moondancer have joined the group, likely brought in by Sea Swirl.
As conversations begin to bounce around the table, you bite into your hayburger. The bread is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and gives way to a delicious mix of soft hay topped with melted cheese and layers of veggies with a touch of tomato ketchup.
You complement each bite with a few fries, which are satisfyingly crunchy and flavourful, and inevitably shared with friends. Along with a tall box of cold, freshly-pressed apple juice, your selection makes for a delightful evening meal.
Dawn Break: “You should’ve seen the Games and Prizes booths earlier. They had to borrow a cook from the buffet to make enough candy apples for the bat ponies there.”
Apple Basket: “Heh, sounds like they got good taste to me.”
Sugar Twist: “In food, you mean?”
Apple Basket: “Uh…”
Moondancer: “I think it’s interesting that they like fruit so much. Moreso than any other food, it seems.”
Sassaflash: “I don’t blame them. Fruits are delicious!”
Moonflower: “Heehee! Yuh uh!”
After finishing the last of your hayburger and fries, and leaving the rest of the juice to the bat pony, you move on to dessert. One taste of your brownie immediately washes over your palate with its densely rich chocolate flavour, and its moist texture with its crumbly crinkly top leaves you thirsting for more.
Luckily, your banana smoothie satisfies that thirst perfectly. The cold beverage wraps up your meal with the pleasant taste of bananas and a hint of vanilla and honey, which you wish you could absent-mindedly slurp forever.
You feel stuffed. Phew!
Sugar Twist: “Ahh, that hit the spot! Now I’m ready for some dancing!”
Sassaflash: “Ooof, speak for yourself. I don’t know if I can ever move from this seat again.”
Sea Swirl: “That’s how you got those thighs, Sassy!”
Sassaflash: “Ugh, I’ll make you eat those words… some other time.”
Dawn Break: “Well, Moondancer and I are going to take a walk around town to help with digestion. You can join us, if you’d like.”
