When Applejack had called and asked for Big Mac to pick her up from the festival, and so soon after getting dropped off, Apple Bloom could only assume that her sister must’ve easily won that pie-eating contest. After all, with the way she’d been obsessively stuffing herself nonstop for the past six weeks, how could someone possibly lose with an appetite like that?
But as Apple Bloom waited outside, hoping to congratulate her gluttonous sister as she rolled down the street like a celebratory parade float, those expectations were quickly diminished. All she could do was stand by and pitifully watch her brother’s truck chugging its way home as Applejack’s bulging body filled up the entire backbed, bouncing and wobbling pathetically all along the way.
From the way her chubby cheek hung down into a frown, it was quite clear how things went. But even then, Applejack took the time to explain what happened. Despite hearing everything that was needed to be said, however, Apple Bloom still had a fair share of questions to ask.
“So you’re tellin’ me all that food you been eatin’ and all this weight you been gainin’ was what got you disqualified!?”
“Yep,” Applejack said with a heavy sigh, wishing her siblings would help her off the truck already. But for whatever reason, Big Mac was trying to see if he’s still able to start up his truck. At this point, it was looking to be a lost cause.
“But you still got to beat Rarity’s record by more than double the pie she ate! I mean, that’s gotta count for somethin’!”
“Nope,” she replied with a mere shrug, thinking about how much better the hollow victory would’ve been if Rarity was there to see it. At the very least, it would’ve been fun to show off.
“At least you ain’t crazy hungry anymore, right? From what I heard about Fluttershy, I’m just glad my big sis didn’t get THAT big.”
“Yep,” Applejack nodded as a gentle smile formed, having just then noticed that she hasn’t been feeling any strong cravings over the past hour or so. It was certainly a relief not having to tame her starving beast of a stomach.
“Oh! Did you at least get a free t-shirt?”
“Nope,” she admitted bashfully, recalling how one of the festival workers had to awkwardly explain to her how she was literally too fat for any of their consolation shirts.
Though Apple Bloom had plenty more to ask, she was starting to see that her sister has had enough for today. “Well, you don’t gotta worry yourself cause you got me and Big Mac to help you out around here til you start slimmin’ down,” she said with as cheery an attitude as she could muster up for the occasion. “Whether it’s workin’ out with you or doin’ some of your chores, we’ll be here for you, sis!”
Leaning over the edge of the backbed, Apple Bloom reached out and tried to hug her tiny arm around her sister’s shoulders. Easier said than done considering how wide and cumbersome her body’s become. So with a chuckle, Applejack decided to meet her halfway and wrap her own pillowy arm around her sister’s puny figure.
Laughing as she got squished up against the massively obese frame, Apple Bloom finally pulled away and lowered herself back onto the sidewalk. “Plus, if you ever need a ride, this truck seems to be doin’ a bang-up job of haulin’ you around. Ain’t that right, Big Mac?”
As she called out to her brother, however, the truck suddenly sounded off with a quick and loud BANG that echoed across the neighborhood. Next thing they knew, the back axle had given in as the wheels sank to the ground.
Frustrated by the whole situation, Big Mac simply looked back at the girls with a resounding answer.
“NOPE!”
