Princess Luna is taking her son Prince Moonrise out into the Lunar Gardens.
It’s his first time Luna taking him outside. He was still just a tot, but she felt he was old enough to leave the confines of inside the castle. And Moonrise is amazed at what he is seeing. Few ponies are aware of what the night brings, Moonrise was getting to experience it first hoof, a way for his mother to show how truly wonderous the night was, and how so many ponies were missing out on something grand. And Moonrise got to see a spectacular sight. Butterflies that were nocturnal like their moth cousins, had become bioluminescent and glowed in the night. And moonlit nights like this one only made it look more amazing.
Then, Moonrise saw something only few ever get to see if they stay up. A certain flower was in bloom, most flowers closed their petals during the night, but this flower, it only bloomed at night. It was a rose of sorts. A rose that Luna took to calling the Lunar Rose. It’s scent was so sweet, Moonrise was tempted to try and see how it tasted, having eaten other forms of flowers, but he felt that he’d a glowing belly for quite some time if he ate it. Luna couldn’t help but smile at her son’s amazement. She just wished more ponies could experience scenes like this. Maybe she could talk to her sister to help provide a good argument about it. It wasn’t ancient Equestria anymore, so maybe Tia and other ponies would be more open to the idea these days.
But for now, she watched as Moonrise was frozen in place by a butterfly landing on his nose. He didn’t know what to do, but he didn’t want to hurt the little glowing creature.
