Most people must be wondering what has become of my long going project; Lauren’s Legacy, a comic series that started as a simple parody of MLP but then became its own thing. Well, that’s one of the biggest things I’d like to talk about right now with my followers, please take a seat and read what I have to say about this project. I must be frank with you, I’m just in no position to dedicate so much hours & effort into such a big project when I’m most likely gonna get 0 remuneration out of it, God knows I’d KILL to do so, but, truth be told, I need to eat, I need to pay the bills, I live on my own, I have a house I have to sustain, I have no rich mother, father or uncle who can help me, it’s been rough for me and I’m entirely on my own, I need to focus on the thing that I know will grant me an influx of money to pay the bills and put food on my table, I’m deeply sorry, I just can’t work on it at the rhythm I’d love to. (Because yes, I could work at a slow rhythm, but what could I do? A single page every month? What kind of comic would that be?). Right now I have the story written down, characters, plot lines, monster designs, everything pretty much ready to go, but I just can’t work it out on a full length comic, every project, ANY project needs support, especially when you’re an artist trying to make a living out of your work. And, before you ask, no, I’m not gonna post the story in written format, this was written to be part of an illustrated novel, and no, I’m not gonna give away my characters & my story to somebody else so they can do it instead of me and take all the credit. This may sound a bit douchey but Lauren’s Legacy is MY comic, and, I’m sorry, but if I can’t make it, that doesn’t mean I’m ok with somebody else doing it. No matter how good will intended they claim to be. So, is it dead? Not quite, you could argue that if I were to get support to making the comic, let’s say; Patreon, I could very well get it, however, I know that the idea of paying for something that was ‘originally’ free doesn’t feet well with most people, and even tough getting support from patreon would be in order to make the project a reality so that everyone can read it for free in the end, I can tell that most people would take it in the wrong way. That, and also, if I were to get money out of this, that means I would have to make it an original project with no relation to My Little Pony, because we all know how Hasbro likes to act with these sort of Fan-made projects (Button’s Adventure, Fighting is Magic, Princess Molestia, etc…). And, well, when I first suggested taking that direction, I received tons of hate-mail (no jokes). Right now I’m focused on my adult comics, the Naughty Kitty Comics series, those comics exist and are produced through Patreon, I receive a solid income out of those and you could say they are my job since I pay my bills thanks to those, and since these are my job, I’m focused 100% on them. If I were to create Lauren’s Legacy (or any other new big project, something similar to my old Master Light comics) I would need to be sure I’d be getting a solid income just like my Naughty Kitty Comics. This is the way it is, and this is the only way it could come to be. So, just to resume. · I definelty can’t work any project this big for free. (Some people maybe can, I CAN’T) · I’m not gonna give away my story & characters to somebody else so they “can” make it. · I’m not gonna release it just as a written story, this was conceived as a graphic novel, not a “fanfic” · No matter how much good will you offer, I’ll never accept anybody else working on this project for free (drawings, colors, line-arts, etc…), I strongly support indie artists to receive remuneration for their work. Now, I’d like to hear what you people have to say, obviously, your opinion has always been important to me, what do you think? What do you suggest? Would you be willing to support on something like Patreon? Would you still support even if it drifts away from MLP and becomes an original story? Would you rather just let this project die? Tell me what you believe.
