Another old concept for my cancelled fan-fiction. A minotaur soldier along with his batpony partners. Originally intended to be Lunarist rebels serving under Nightmare Moon. Since I cancelled that whole deal, I reworked them to fit more into the future of Equestria during Princess Twilight’s rule while still keeping some of that rugged look.  
 
The minotaur and the purple mare were actually supposed to be major characters in my stories but once again, my writings never really panned out. Still, I am glad I finished this as I like the idea. Ordinarily, an unicorn would ride a chariot into a fight but that’s outdated now. A minotaur is big enough to wear a cosy backpack perfectly suited for 1 average sized mare. It’s extremely practical, they can easily watch each other’s back. Not to mention, it’s dangerously adorable. Of course, an unicorn could easily use magic to teleport and move around but that’s the crux of the problem. There comes a time in the life of a unicorn when they learn to appreciate their magic. Nothing makes you quite as appreciative as learning how to open up a singularity inside a timberwolf and make it implode onto itself. At that point, no self-respecting unicorn is going to use spells to move around.  
 
This is the most fitting battle combination for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. It’s the true power of friendship at work. Two friends ready to take on anything in their way. They even have a secret friendship code for communication. He talks exclusivelly by grunting and she through evil laughter. Only real friends will understand.  
 
In terms of armour design, I of course used the Luna’s batpony guard armour, although I did change a few things. Added a few more stars and crescent moon shapes. Originally I made them silver but then I coloured them gold. I thought it contrasted really well with the dark blue and it makes them discerning batpony guard look less ominous while still keeping some of that edgy gruff we all love. I should also mention, these guys don’t answer to Princess Luna. At least not directly. You can pinpoint one specific symbol on their outfits which should remind you of somepony. It is her cutie mark, after all.  
 
As for the weapons, I am keeping the blades strapped to the front legs as my go-to weapon for pony combatants because to be honest, when they hold swords in their mouths, it looks kinda silly to me. Still, I might include that sometime in the future because regardless of my opinions, it does have its potential. I also know that minotaurs are usually depicted with axes which is understandable. Axes are excellent in many situations but I want some intense cleaving action for my minotaur so I gave him a slightly curved sword. As a template, I used a messer sword because it’s kinda like a long knife. Then I made it wider to make it look almost like a sword cleaver. Something that should help in those tight spots when you need to slice off all the heads of a hydra as quickly as possible.
