Original Description:
Something was wrong. Applejack felt slow and lethargic, like a dream– but also nervous and energetic, more awake than she had ever been. Sweet Apple Acres swam before Applejack’s eyes, the tree trunks wavering and canopies merging and splitting like red-speckled green storm clouds.
The confused mare blinked and shook her head, trying to focus, only to realize that it her first impression hadn’t been figurative. The entire section of the orchard where she– floated– was drifting lazily through the air, tumbling among flowing currents of multicolored energy. The former earth pony blinked again, finally conscious enough to catch a glimpse of her unfamiliar new form. “Wh-?!” ‘where’s the fun in making sense?’”
“‘Wh’ indeed, my perplexing little pomme de terre,” purred a familiar voice as Eris popped into view, her eyebrows waggling. “I’m not sure why the universe chose the element of honesty but, well, as a wise creature once said-
Applejack gasped the draconequus’ paw found hers. A strange, almost-electric shock had jumped from Eris to her the moment they touched. It felt… comforting somehow. Stabilizing, and yet… fluid? She didn’t seem to have the words. “So, uh… what now? Ah mean, can ya fix it?”
“I can’t fix what isn’t broke– but oh, how rude of me. So, what is your name, mon chéri?”
Well of course it was– it… it… No. That name didn’t feel quite right any more, the new draconequus reflected as she felt crackling power rising within her. She searched for a moment, until finally it was there, as obvious the muzzle on her face or the horns jutting from her skull. “Ah’m Malus.”
“‘Malus’, as in ‘Malus Domestica’ and a pun on’Malice’? My my, a mare of hidden depths.” Eris’ grip tightened affectionately. “Alright then. Stick with me, kid– and I’ll make you a star.”

Did you know that there is a Draconequus version of Applejack called Malus? I had no idea. So here she is, hanging out with Eris (female Discord) in some netherplane of chaos and apple trees.
There is a bit of year left as of uploading this piece, but I put my hand on my heart when I say this is the most fun I’ve had with a drawing all year long. Deeply entertaining, from beginning to end, and I am pretty pleased with the end result as well. This is my favorite version of the drawing as well, with the two of them holding their hands together.
I’m posting some of the individual bits of this piece right after. Because we all need more Eris and more Malus in our lives. And because I drew them in individual pieces and I want to keep showing off.
