Here we have the young prince’s life growing up with Milky Way as his mother.
 
Though Milky gave up her position in the castle to hide the prince’s true identity, she and Majesty do indeed remain friends, sending letters and meeting for tea regularly. Blue Dream knows it’s an honor to have high tea with the princess and her young daughter, but it isn’t exactly fun for him. Little does he know just how precious those meetings are to Majesty, as it’s the only time she can be so close to her son. Since Blue and Milky live in a house at the very edges of the kingdom they don’t meet often, and the distance stops the two children from becoming anything more than aquaintances, as they can’t just hang out and play together.
 
Blue Dream’s talents are wide and varied, but above all he loves stargazing and storytelling, he would hope to be able to relay and create his own stories in the future. It helps that whenever he finds a new interest that the equipment shows up fairly quickly at their house, he supposes it’s because his mother was well paid for her years working at the castle, in reality Milky Way keeps Majesty updated on his life and she opts to send him gifts whenever she can.
 
It wouldn’t be until Blue Dream became a young adult that his life would change in any way, when one afternoon he watched as the moon rose, ready with his telescope to view the stars that were to come out, when he would see the brightest star in the sky he’d ever seen, a ponyshaped star that was coming closer. The brightly coloured pegasus landed before him and he was sure he was seeing an angel.
 
Starshine is the distant (at least 500 years for the wind-evil era) descendant of Gusty the Great, due to her mixed heritage her family had been outliers during the wind-evil era, not having a solid place with any of the races but instead being part of the settlements that lived adjacent to them and followed them to the new land of Equestria, where their herds were more accepted. Having grown up hearing the stories of that era Starshine decided to strike out and see the other parts of the new kingdoms for herself, to see how they lived and how this new land changed them. So of course when she saw a cute blue earth stallion on the edge of the new unicorn kingdom she just had to investigate further.
 
Starshine is sassy and straight forward, self confident and kind, and to the meeker book-smart Blue Dream she was an exciting new opportunity, first for her first-hoof knowledge of the other areas of Equestria she had been visiting, and then as a friend, and very quickly more. Starshine would move in to their hut on the outskirts, Milky Way inviting her fully into their lives.
