My honest opinions on each gen of MLP

As you may know I am a big fan of MLP and I am a true MLP fan I,E they at least respect the previous gens (I like the previous gens), they acknowledge any downsides or wrongdoings as all the MLP shows have their fair share of ups and downs and they do not make rude or inappropriate art. This is one of the major issues with the fan base, now I do know that not everyone in the fandom is like that but seeing anything that relates to any of the “Mature audience” categories really sickens me.  
 
Now here is my opinions on each gen of MLP  
 
G1 + Tales  
 
G1 My Little Pony has its fair share of ups and downs. Return of Tamberlon, Crunch the Rock-Dog and Baby it’s cold outside were some of the good episodes. And 2 of my personal favorite songs are “Call upon the Sea Ponies” and “No one can stop the Smooze”.  
 
Overall G1 MLP is like a diamond in the rough. It tried to be good and it had potential but with a little polish it could’ve been even better.  
 
 
Here are the following things I would’ve done to improve G1:  
 
1): Improved writing: “The Glass Princess” for an example needed a re-write. The Reptilians weren’t very menacing in any way, they were just comedic bumbling minions and yet the ponies taken prisoner were too scared of them to attack or fight their way out when they easily could have. This is very glaring especially since those same ponies fought against much more menacing and threatening villans like Grogar or Tirek. And not only that the Reptilians and Porcina threatened to turn the ponies they took prisoner into glass if they refused to make the magic cloak for Porcina despite the fact that she could only use her magic/powers when it’s worn. Basically they were forcing their hostages to build a weapon for them and they threatened to use said weapon on them even though it wasn’t built let alone ready yet. That’s a very clear example of bad writing.  
 
I also would’ve co-developed the show with either Créativité & Développement, DiC or Hanna Barbara’s team and I’d restructure the world a little bit without taking away any familiarity and also dial-back on some of the dark tones while still having high stakes adventures. Overall I’d give it a similar tone to Scooby-Doo and the original Littlest Petshop Cartoon. (Goofy, fun and comedic while also being mysterious and sometimes scary along with some action)  
 
 
2): I would’ve removed the human and other humanoid characters. (Megan, Danny, Molly, Moochick, Prince from Rescue at Midnight Castle, Ect) Because they honestly clash with the MLP world, in shows like Transformers or Littlest Pet Shop I don’t mind the human characters there as they’re set in basically our universe and world. But I’m not okay with humans/humanoids in MLP because it’s set in a different universe, a caricature of the Earth and beyond. It’s like placing a tropical tree in a cold climate and also Megan tended to hog the spotlight.  
 
Also these same issues apply to Equestria Girls as well. Along with some issues of its own.  
 
 
3): Better management: I would’ve kept Dream Castle instead of replacing it with Paradise Estate. Instead I’d have Paradise Estate be part of a town/village around Dream Castle.  
 
 
MLP Tales took a few steps backwards with having only Earth Ponies and a non-magical setting but it was still overall an okay show. I would’ve changed the setting from a “Generic World” to a fantasy world while also having technology elements without clashing. And gave it the same polish that I’d give to G1.  
 
G2  
 
This one has the least to offer (because it didn’t have a cartoon) which is quite a shame and I wish it had a cartoon, it did have a PC game “Friendship Gardens” (I played it a few times now and I thought it was a nice little thing to play around with but I did wish it had a little bit more)  
 
G3 + G3.5  
 
While these two didn’t have actual villans or big adventures they still have nice little antics and characters and I still enjoy them. Although one thing that I would’ve done with it is give it more character diversity like a mixture of “pretty” and “spunky” characters and other types of personalities.  
 
G4  
 
While this one had a very strong start it still has its fair share of ups and downs and there is a big issue and that comes mainly from the fandom (I know not every fan is like this, but this is about those who are), the bad fans of MLP FiM can be extremely toxic to the point that if you say that if you disagree with their view or especially provoke or aggravate them in any way they ruthlessly attack you.  
 
Anyways. Now for what I would’ve changed in G4:  
 
1): Better management: I would’ve kept the show from declining. Season 3 is where it started to go down hill even if there may have been a few worthwhile episodes in the later seasons it still couldn’t keep that worthwhile spark forever. And I’d say it’s due to the following factors:  
 
Through out the show’s run there had been several turns and events that caused controversial stirs and dramas and caused the fans/audience to fight amongst themselves or drove some away in some cases. Equestria Girls was one of them but there were also several others too such as Twilight becoming an Alicorn at the end of Season 3 and a lot of things occurring through out the last 2 seasons. Also another factor is that the show over the course of its run progressively lost its innocence and fun that it had in the earlier seasons.  
 
So if I was in charge I would’ve done the following patch-ups/improvements:  
 
Bringing up Twilight becoming an Alicorn again. One of the main issues about that event is that it occurred too soon and maybe it was ultimately not the best place for Twilight to go. So instead I would’ve either:  
 
A: Saved this event for the series finale or later down the road towards the end of the series plus I wouldn’t make the change permanent.  
 
B: Simply made it a temporary super-form for Twilight that she can use in dire situations.  
 
 
I would’ve also dropped Equestria Girls and made a separate stand alone I.P instead, Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls would be the I.P in question it was a series that Lauren made around 2003 involving a group of roller skating girls who were themed around the planets of our solar system.  
 
And I would’ve made any of the following candidates for MLP as a movie:  
 
(Space Adventures)  
MLP: Planet Freezeonia  
MLP: Attack of the Galox  
 
(Prehistoric Adventures)  
MLP: Cretaceous Chaos  
MLP: Pleistocene Panic  
 
(Prev-Gen Shoutouts)  
MLP: Legend of Aquastria  
MLP: Day of the Breezies  
 
 
Now for the rest of the show: I would’ve steered clear of any other drama/stir causing events and I’d have the show run for 7 Seasons and most importantly, I would’ve made sure that the show maintained its innocence and fun over the course of its run and finished it on a high note instead of ending the show with a “Sad Goodbye”. Because MLP is a franchise about magic, friendship, adventure and fun. Not seriousness and drama.  
 
2): Better morals: One thing I would’ve also changed is that I wouldn’t reform most of the villans. Only the redeemable villans like Night Mare Moon for an example would be reformed. While villans that deserve to be punished don’t get reformed. Because not every single enemy can be redeemed.  
 
3): Better show structuring and improved writing: There are a quite a few areas that I would’ve smoothened down but to avoid taking too much time I’ll cover the major areas.  
 
In “Guantlet of Fire” for an example Twilight and Rarity didn’t want to face the dragons in the race despite the fact that they’ve faced against much more menacing villans in other outings. It’s especially annoying when the heroes become reluctant to face some villans when they’ve faced other villans who were more threatening and/or menacing previously.  
 
Also one final thing now this one may seem a bit on the personal side of things. But instead of doing the show in flash animation I would’ve instead done it with computerized cels or digital ink and paint similar to Cartoon Network or Wanner Bros Animation in the late 90s and Early 2000s.  
 
And that sums up my opinion list/semi review on the MLP franchise.
