I leaned on my table and glanced at the guards beside me. They stood still with a stern look on their face. I sighed and turned back towards my work. I hastily continued writing the documents and orders. I had lots of work today, no time to go for a stroll again like usual. I pushed away the papers to the side and started on the second stack. A loud thump sounded from downstairs. “I want to see Twilight!” a voice wailed. “The princess is busy, please leave.” Another voice began yelling. “This a’int right! Twilight our friend ya know!” The guard sighed and shut the doors with a loud thud. Repetitive pounding sounded against the door. I tried to shut the sound out. Those 5 had been coming constantly trying to talk to me since I had fainted. The sounds of the pounding hooves faded and I sighed in relief. They had gone.
Days after days they kept coming. Then their visits become occasional. Then rare. Then they stopped coming. They had finally given up. I slowly heaved myself up and went to go look at old relics within the castle, admiring their age. Suddenly my wing bumped into a piece of glass, dropping to the ground. The fragments scattered across the ground along with a crown. After moments of silence I quickly dropped to retrieve it. Then, something clicked. It seemed familiar? I studied the cracked star shaped shard intently. Abruptly, without warning, images flashed though my head. “Twilight dear, you’re a princess now!” “Congrats Twili!” I felt myself almost choke. I felt shame flood through me. How could I forget? Leaving the shards I bolted outside the door that my friends had so desperately tried to come in. I’m so sorry.
