Few are familiar with how Maud and Mudbrair met, as they seemingly debut as a couple already in deep love. The reality was that when Maud got her doctorate, she decided that she was ready for a relationship. The issue is that Maud is actually quite shy and didnt have any experience with relationships. hen she brought this up with her mother, Cloudy suggested, tentatively, going to the Pairing Stone. She made sure to tell her daughter that if she didnt want to be with the stallion chosen for her, she and Igneous would support her. Maud figured there was no harm in trying this, and went. The stallion chose for her was none other than Mudbriar, another plains pony from further north. She thought he was quite handsome and agreed to meet him, but made no promises of a betrothal.
When she met Mudbriar, he was an equally shy academic type whose own family suggested the Pairing Stone to get their youngest son a partner. They went on a few dates and felt an immediate connection. Not only did they share interests, but both of them were the only trans ponies they knew who had grown up in the traditional world of the plains. Despite their shared apprehension at being with a pony who was chosen for them through magic, they could not deny their mutual attraction. While they eventually decided not to get immediately married, just in case things went poorly, they did begin dating. Soon after Maud moved to Ponyville, Mudbriar moved in with her, and they got married less than a year later.
They are beyond happy together and while they dont often show it to others, they are quite affectionate and expressive when its just the two of them. Their daughter, Amber Honey, has grown up in a happy household full of love and fun.
