Sapphire Stars is an autistic unicorn. She is great at painting and sculpting, along with designing dresses and suits. Her art can look almost like a photograph. And she can have a seemingly magical ability to tailor clothing designs to someone’s personality. Sapphire is largely an autistic extrovert. She loves the attention of people who admire her. In building her popularity, she has become a successful businessmare.
 
In Friendsville, Sapphire owns a shop that sells some of her artwork and fashion designs. Her store is called “Designer Crafts”. Most of her business comes from clients who commission custom designs. In addition to painting and sculpting, Sapphire loves photography. She loves making portraits of fashion models, famous people, and her friends. She loves making landscape photos of beautiful scenery.
 
Unfortunately, Sapphire is sometimes crippled by strong OCD. She sometimes suffers nervous breakdowns when she fears failure or rejection, or when things go wrong. Sapphire can be extremely perfectionist. Many times, she is perfectly satisfied with the results of her work. But when she’s not, she might scream with frustration and want to lie down. When Sapphire really wants to impress someone, fear of rejection can get the best of her. She might suddenly shut down and retreat to her own shell. (There might be one story where she temporarily becomes an introvert.)
 
Sapphire can be terrified of getting dirty. She loves to feel clean, and she usually feels that she’s above doing messy work. (Nightlight is often scared of germs but not to the same extent. Starlyre has no problem getting dirty as long as he can clean himself afterward. Wingfire, Blazey Blue, and Ronnie Gearheart don’t really fear filth at all.) Even though she usually hates dirt, Sapphire admires athletic boys. She admires boys who are willing to get messy for her.
 
When Starlyre arrives in Friendsville, two mares really catch his eye. Skydasher looks like a colorful angel to him, though she can be a little too playful and rebellious. Sapphire looks kind of snobby to him at first glance – but she loves some of his favorite activities. Skydasher loves mostly athletic activities. Sapphire loves mainly quiet activities. Starlyre loves both sets of interests.
 
Sapphire loves giving presents to those who appreciate her. She loves to make friends. Unfortunately, it’s often for the wrong reasons. She is obsessed with popularity, and her generosity sometimes feels more like buying friends than truly appreciating them as people. As she starts to learn what true loyalty looks like, her affection becomes a lot more sincere. She comes to realize that her true friends appreciate her for who she is – as long as she has the right attitude.
