Original Description:
Done for Equestria Daily’s Artist Training Grounds, day 17: Draw a pony feeling hopeless / Draw a pony at the end of their rope. I took a few liberties with the hopelessness, as Dash isn’t one to give up easily. But her situation seems dire. She can’t fly out of there while she’s wedged so snugly into the weird hourglass crevice, and that alligator is hungry.
This event has led me to try thumbnailing, and it really helps my process. I’m stubborn and don’t like to completely start over if I’ve invested effort into a drawing, so getting a pose down before I’ve sketched it out at full size gives me the freedom to drop mediocre compositions without getting sucked into a sunk-cost situation.
