AYYYY!!! I’m alive, believe it or not! I’ve wanted to post something for a while but just haven’t had the time, and I also have had so many different things I want to work on with art that I feel like I’m wasting time just working on fandom stuff that doesn’t challenge me, so….
 
…. practicing humans, skin tones, style, and clothing with this AU!! YAY! Constructive fandom work!!
 
Ancient AU (based very loosely off of Egyptian/ Babylonian styles)
 
The City of Equestria has been religiously divided for generations: the Followers of Night and the Followers of Day. These two religious factions each control half of the city and are divided by the Inner Wall, splitting the city down the middle. The Followers of Night go about their business during the night, feeling just as at home in the dark as the Followers of Day are in sunlight hours.
 
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES:  
–> Followers of Night have BLACK eyeballs. They also have very strong night vision and can see color/value/etc very clearly in the dark.  
–> Followers of Day have glowing hair. It typically only glows with very strong emotions, but those with a strong spiritual will having more frequently glowing hair.
 
RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES: (I’ll detail this more in future deviations)
 
Night: Worshippers of the Moon, stars, and shadow.  
** Tend to enforce rules more strictly.  
** Priests are chosen by bloodline. The High Priest’s family is basically like a religious king/queen/ prince/ princess. They are born into their roles and trained from a young age to study, pray, observe, and lead. They are expected to be responsible and disciplined.
 
Day: Worshippers of the Sun, flame, and light.  
**Tend to be a bit lighter with punishments  
** Priests are chosen by potential/training. A priest will have a vision (usually during prayer or sleep) and be told prophecy for when they will meet their acolyte. Often, that priest will encounter the acolyte soon after, and – even if that individual doesn’t want to – they will become that priest’s acolyte (apprentice). Through training and study, it will be determined if this individual will become a priest or not (they usually do, but it is not too rare for an acolyte to leave training).

Leaders of Day:
 
High Priestess Celestia Everlight –> more info on her later… XD  
** Was trained by the former High Priestess Verdancia Daybreak.  
**Celestia currently has 2 acolytes (not super uncommon): Twilight Sparkle and Mi Amore Cadenza. (If they both pass their training and become High Priestesses, they will take Sister Sun vows, vowing to share their role of high Priestess.)
 

 
Leaders of Night:
 
High Priest Illusio Darkmoon and High Priestess Umbra Darkmoon (formerly of the Fallenstar family)  
** Their children:  
1.) Sombra Darkmoon –> Prince of the Blood Moon  
2.) Spectra Darkmoon –> Princess of Spirits  
3.) Dante Darkmoon –> Prince of the ___ (has not yet received a title)
