Original Description:
I just came across the story of the last kauaʻi ʻōʻō bird who was a male calling out for a female of its kind, but he was the last of his kind by that point and now i am heartbroken and to make it sadder i’ve read that whenever the recording of his call was played at the island in hopes of finding more of the species, the very same bird would show up, hoping that another kauaʻi ʻōʻō had responded to his call, but it was only responding to his own call
