Original Description:
Flurry can’t remember whether or not she wanted a sibling. She just kind of remembers Love existing one day and being okay with it. Somewhere in her childhood, though (around when she was a teenager), Flurry developed a very huge ego, one that was rooted in insecurity. The only way she made herself feel better was by convincing herself she was better than everyone else.
Particularly with the fact that she’s an alicorn. Shiny horn and big ol’ wings, even some earth pony strength to prove she’s all that. Her little sister Love Letter, though, outshined her in every possible way. Love was effortlessly perfect growing up- everything Flurry needed training for came naturally for Love. She’s graceful where Flurry is awkward, soft spoken and concise where Flurry stumbles over her words. She was too perfect, even though she was just a kid. Flurry hated her for it.
But she did have one thing Love didn’t. Those pegasus wings! She always secretly worried her sister would earn her wings as their aunt Twilight did, since she had every quality to do so- but she comforted herself in the fact that two born alicorns (herself and Cassie) meant another alicorn ascension was not likely, or needed. When Love was old enough, Cadence brought up the idea of her ascension, but Love declined, adamantly so. She’s perfectly happy as a unicorn, and has never felt the need to ascend to prove her worth. This comes as a huge relief for Flurry.
Flurry Heart is not a true alicorn. While she may have the physical feature of a unicorn horn, her unicorn magic is incredibly weak, almost useless. She really can’t do much with it. She does everything in her power to avoid having this brought up in conversation or in the media, including enrollment in a unicorn school in hopes of developing her magic, but you can’t develop what’s not there, so it didn’t work for her. Love, on the other hand, is quite literally peak unicorn. Her magic is the strongest Equestria has seen in generations, strong enough to challenge Twilight, the princess of magic herself, and maybe even Celestia.
Flurry is very aware of Love’s unicorn talent. Her sister’s very refined skill where she has none makes Flurry grow deeply resentful of her.
Love really could not care less about Flurry, or her insecurities. She’s doing her own thing.
Their age gap is about 10 years.
