Dusk’s favourite aunt is Cadence. It isn’t specifically because he dislikes Applejack or Applebloom, but they just don’t really get him, whereas Cadence does. They have always been fairly close even though they don’t see each other as often, with them living so far apart. In fact, Shining is also concidentally Dusk’s favourite uncle, too. Pipsqueak and Blueblood are just not as close to what Dusk considers to be good enough to look up to (Pipsqueak often getting into trouble, and Blueblood only “recently” having changed his tune) compared to Shining. Dusk was slated to join the military just like Shining, but ended up backing, out… his sister, Poppysweet Meadow, ended up going instead.
