About:  
A passionate individual, Tide Rider dedicates much of his time to his work and his family. He puts his all into everything he sets his mind to, and while this often works to his advantage, he does tend to single-mindedly pursue tasks to the detriment of other things. Despite this, he is always dutiful to his family and does what he thinks is best for them, even if they don’t always agree with his assessments. Among colleagues and friends, Rider is amiable and polite, although he tends to approach most relationships rather formally. No matter what, he dotes incessantly on his wife, and praises her at most opportunities.
 
With a lifetime of ichthyological research under his belt, Rider is nothing if not learned. He spends much of his time in the field, studying fish up close, although he has been looking into lecturing as travel takes ever more of a toll on his joints. When he isn’t absorbed by his work, Tide Rider enjoys reading adventure novels, cooking, and spending time with his wife and children.
 
History:  
Tide Rider grew up in the Baltimare region with his parents and older sister, Wave Crasher. He and Crash shared a tight bond and love of the sea and all it had to offer. In his youth, Rider discovered a love of fish that would be with him his whole life. The young stallion took to studying ichthyology, and before long his scholarly pursuits led him to Seaquestria, where he met his guide and love of his life, Shoal Skipper. The two were soon married and settled in Seaquestria, where Rider continued his research into local fish species. Before long, he found himself with two children, a son and a daughter, and though he worked tirelessly to provide for them, he strived to make what time he could for his family. During this time, he came across a species of hitherto undiscovered starfish, and with this discovery his career was set. From there, his work began to overtake his time, leading to long and longer nights away from home or his family. While he would regret this, Rider felt that providing for his children was the best thing that he could do for them, and he knew Skipper would take good care of them. However, when his third child was born, Rider felt it was time to take on a research assistant, and with their help he poured more of his energy into his youngest daughter, Sea Sprite. While he’s finally regained a semblance of balance between his work and home life, he still frets over the time he lost in Starchart and Beachhead’s youths.
