Rainbow Dash is great because she is the biggest, most arrogant jerk on the show. Just watch any of the episodes where she’s the focus; every single plot is Dash going ‘oh man, look how awesome I am everyone’ and they’re like ‘dude Rainbow Dash, you’re kind of being a jerk’. Then she just goes ‘aww, you’re right, I’m sorry’, and then goes off to find a new way to be a jerk in the next episode.

Even in the Sonic Rainboom episode, she’s worried that she won’t be as awesome as she always acts like she is, which would basically spoil the illusion she’s worked up around herself that she is the greatest person ever.

Of course, the reason it works so good is because Dash actually is that awesome.

Anyway, the picture. Took so long with this, due to some stuff I had to deal with, that it actually became relevant.

I tried to do the more shaggy look I’ve seen a lot of artists use on ponies, and I think it turned out pretty well. Originally it was shaggy around her hoofs as well, but I didn’t like how that looked.

Not too sure on how well her expression worked, though. The idea was to give her a kind of cocky look, like she was sneering a bit. Had a bit of trouble making it not look like she was evil or something, and I’m not sure I completely pulled it off.

The background didn’t help too much with that either, given I had to make it dark or it clashed horribly with the already super bright colors of Dash.

Also, wings are terrible and I never want to draw them again.
