Yeah, I guess I somehow never really noticed the obvious visual cues until I went looking for them… Oops. :P

Yeah, she has two distinct timelines.  
One where she’s a hybrid.  
In that one her unicorn magic is weak (but she makes up for it through technical skill), and her changeling magic is also too weak to fully transform, so she ends up larping as a batpony alicorn to hide the fact she’s literally a parasitic bug.  
She can only transform her chitin into fur, and some other small details on her body. In her bat larp she hides her wings with either a thick hoodie, or a unicorn glamour. Overall, she can’t transform them.  
She can however still sense emotions, which has convinced her that no one will ever accept her for who she is.
 
 
In the other timeline, her changeling genes are mostly recessive and at first glance, she’s a normal unicorn. In terms of abilities, too (cognitively, though, she’s a lot more like her mother than her father, as shown by… different way of thinking). As a result, her natural aptitude for magic is greatly amplified and she gets into a doctoral program at the age of 23.  
Unfortunately for her, her area of expertise happens to have highly necromantic connotations, since she tends to mess with souls directly.  
So, she receives an offer from Sunbutt, to covertly work for her. Soulfire still being a bit of a paranoid bitch, even when she’s otherwise sane, she declines the offer by going into exile.  
Fast forward 5 years and she finds a country full of necromancers.  
Fast forward 60 years and you get >>2835782 and >>2978042, a highly magically augmented unicorn who ages at a third the pace normal ponies do.  
Fast forward another 100 years and her body is finally starting to give way, which causes her to decide to go vampire >>2959022 >>2867967 >>2862980  
So the main difference between “disguised changeling” and “ageless vampire” boils down to
