As I have discussed before, Midnight Snack has poor impulse control. When he gets his attention focused on a pony, he’s likely to go to foolish lengths. Foolish to the point that he would even scheme to overfeed a pony as important as Twilight Sparkle. And foolish to the point he might sneak a kiss while she’s distracted!
I’m sure everything turned out fine in the end. Equestria’s dungeons aren’t all that bad. Or secure.
