They could have included a “crappy kid drawing” of any number of other species in Sunny’s room, which wouldn’t have been hard at all, but they didn’t. The only thing that isn’t a pony at all is the Spike plush and the mold of his footprint.
I don’t like it because it feels too much like the episodes where the writers had no idea what the episodes should be, thus the ponies just act insane through the episode, but I can tolerate it in the context that it was made as a silly moment of 2017 G4, not a malicious “lmao gonna poo on G4 after that heartfelt conclusion” moment, which is what I saw it as initially.

Possible. Some other thoughts: They may have left the other races out for to save money on creating the models.
Or perhaps they were trying to restore brand cohesion, the franchise is called My Little Pony after all.
Either way, it’s a positive point for me.
Because “so the mane 6 are doing wacky things again” is far more reflective of why I liked FIM than anything in seasons 8 or 9.

I found some info that mentions that the movie’s script was actually finalize in 2017, which was before season 8 and season 9 were even planned, and season 9 went through around 3 rewrites, so no one was aware of the timeskip epilogue until the last moment, much less two years prior.
This would be why there is no mention of Twilight’s changed form or the nations being so close as to have all the other races freely mingling. It would also be why it opened with a “so the mane 6 are doing wacky things again”.

Maybe it’s a post season-4 AU? Twilight’s Castle on a map is latest thing from G4 timeline that I noticed. I didn’t notice anything suggesting any of the events from after that point. But honestly, the most likely explanation is that it follows not G4 as the whole of its canon, but solely what they perceive to be its most quintessential points.

But for comparison’s sake, nothing has survived showing twilight in her full alicorn state where she ruled equestria, but there are plenty of wonderbolts advertisements that survived. Literally nothing relating to any other species exists, they are never mentioned, just how the three pony tribes don’t interact and talk about how the other pony tribes hate each other.
Oh, and horribly unfunny jokes about selfies and phones.

How long ago was that? If their harmony only lasted 10 years, then yeah, that cheapens their accomplishments, but 1000 years is still pretty good. Good times aren’t achieved once and then last forever, they have to be maintained, and sometimes later generations fail horribly at that. How topical!

Opens with a scene showing the G4 mane 6 and then shows them attacking each other because lmao they are just toys being played with, but then explains that G4 did actually happen but everything twilight did and all the work that was done in G4 utterly failed and is dead and literally lost to the sands of time and the three pony races live in different nations and spend their spare time making up stories about how the other races want to kill you.
Fuck this movie and fuck this shit scene in particular.
