Original Description:
(Given the amount of time she’s been around I’m sure this joke has been done before by SOMEone. Well, sorry, I’ve not seen it out there so I did this to get the idea out of my head.)
Given Chrysalis’ experience it was natural that she try to write a book. There was however some confusion at the publishing house. The original title “To Serve Ponies” made it sound like a repentant Chrysalis talking about her journey to redemption. There was no Twilight Zone series in Equestria so they didn’t see the obvious possible problem with WHAT she was writing about. Well, there is a “Twilight Zone”, but its a section in the Canterlot library, but that’s another story…
Later in the publishing process however they settled on the current title as the first one seemed a little dull. Chrysalis suggested they “misspell” one word to try and evade copyright infringement, but much later it became obvious why she suggested that. Executives were more concerned about the title than the contents of the book and never really paid attention to what was actually IN the book.
Sales of the book were not immense, but surprisingly not that bad either. Some read it as a way to temper positive emotions.
OK, short story aside this is just me ripping off the Twilight Zone’s “To Serve Man”, or as more now probably know it, Treehouse of Horrors episode “Hungry of the Damned”
