EVERLIGHT BEGINNING HER EVERLASTING PLAN
“…No pony told me how truly hard this would turn out to be…”
Princess Twilight muttered as her golden metal shoes clapped softly against the throne room’s floor. Her flowing mane teasing the side of her cheek as her daily day royal duties were ending. Barely lifting her heavier head then unusual stance, her horn lit up softly as she gathered the Sun and Moon amulet to help slowly lower the sun as it began to turn the sky a sunset yellow.
Today was harder than yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that.
Somehow, not much has gotten any better. She had to visit Ponyville easier in the evening; because another friend decided that Equestria just wasn’t for them anymore…
‘Okay, Twilight. Do not be like that. It was going to happen sooner or later, you’ve had a good cry and you’re going to be okay…’ Twilight thought to herself, her legs unconsciously trotting her away from the throne room towards the horizon balcony to finish her daily sunset. Even now, tears stained the tall Alicorn’s face as guards gave her concerned looks. She was making that face again. She couldn’t really help it but she just nodded quietly to them as she passed. They did it back, even questions of casual ‘Are you alright, Princess Twilight?’ couldn’t gather a word of the young Princess’s mouth.
“Maybe…I shouldn’t be on my own about this, I should take a break…But I can’t have a break, I’m the Princess of Equestria; my ponies need me of course. I… I-I just need to stay strong.”
Twilight muttered once again as she realized that she was on the last few stairs of the horizon tower; allowing herself to spread her wings for a short jump towards the open balcony. Right on time. Watching Celestia’s sun beginning its gentle descent thanks to Twilight’s skilled horn. Yet as she watched the sky changed from yellow, orange then pink; her eyes became to sting, and her magic faulted for a brief moment. Cheeks glowing a peachy pink against her violet coat, wings tightened to her body. Slowly, she forcefully straightened herself up and proceeded lowering the sun as tears escaping from her lids.
“W-Why…Does it have to be like this for me…I-I wish that…T-That you all could be here with me…” Twilight whispered before gulping heavily and stopping herself from going on a monologue, her body shadowing against the balcony railing as her hove balanced along the time. She was exhausted. And watching the gorgeous sunset she was producing was not helping. Ponies now will be beginning to head on home and happily be starting to tuck their young foals in for bed.
This Princess will not have someone tucking her in tonight…Consciously looking down, she spotted a group of young, happy foals galloping back home after a full day of fun and games. So young and so innocent…They do not have to go with what she is going through. ‘And that’s how it should be.’ Twilight thought as the sunset spilled over the mountains and turned the sky darker pink, then purple and blue.
“Twilight…That’s me right there…Maybe Mother decided to call me that because of how she saw me. Little light after the sunset…Yeah, a little light…Little Twilight and her big brother best friend forever…” She pronounced as her horn slowly faded and the amulet was gently dropped to her feet. She could not help it, of course…
She began to sob, after holding in the dam in front of her subjects for nearly the whole day so that they would not be upset. She did not want to make her ponies upset. Not ever.
‘It didn’t need to be like this. It just is not f-fair…W-Why Celestia, why?? Why me?…’
“I-I know why, but why this?? You could have at LEAST told me this would happen. It’s been a nearly two hundred years since it happened, for pony sake! Why didn’t you tell me that becoming an Alicorn that I would have to see my friends go?! My best friends, my brother, m-my parents…I-It… I-It isn’t fair…A-And you just leave me here? O-On my own, now?”
Twilight’s voice carried as she stared where it used to be, the moon waiting for its raise into the molten sky. Along with her tears and rosy cheeks, her teeth gritted slowly and her hooves tapped against the balcony floor
“…Y-You know didn’t you?…You knew this would happen, because you let me keep Spike. A dragon’s lifespan ascends a ponies by far…B-But it just isn’t fair!…Why am ‘I still here? When my best friends are gone? Why am ‘I the princess of Friendship?” Twilight asked the silence horizon, of course getting no answers back. Not even some pony like Celestia will hear her voice from here.
“…What is a Princess of Friendship without her friends?” Her voice creaking softly, remembering what happened easier today…‘It’s just going to happen again, Twilight. You are stuck now. With high responsibilities and duties to perform. No pony can do what you do, Twilight. You are of course the princess of friendship and the element of magic. No pony can replace you.’
“But my friends are considered replaceable?? All my friends, they can just be replaced after the other. Like they didn’t matter?…Why do I matter so much? I am… I’m nothing without my friends. I am nothing without my ponies…” Twilight talked back, having a conversation in her own head as her wings gave uncomfortable flutter in their place
‘Of course not, Twilight. No one will ever replace your friends. And no pony will replace the friend you lost today…It really should not be like this, you; I should not have to go through all this. You ARE the princess of friendship. Ruler and soul protector of Equestria. Your ponies deserve the best! And they shouldn’t have to go through what you are going through…’
“…I… I don’t know…Maybe…Yeah…What am’I even doing? Talking to myself? Well, I’m the only pony who will stay around to talk to myself…Yeah, it…If you think about it Twilight, it doesn’t have to be like this. My duty as Princess is to keep my ponies and preserve the friendships that keep both creature and pony together. To be stronger, together! My ponies deserved exactly what I got, a change to keep their friendships. Every pony and creature will be friends, I know how friendships work and I know how to reserve the small and big problems. I have students in my school, subjects that are willing and Equestria’s best interests at heart! Every pony will be thrilled, and they will understand…Of course! It all makes sense, why didn’t I think of it before!”
Her voice rose as her tears even through her light smile still fell, her eyes staring up at the sky as her horn shinned brightly. Lifting the welcoming white moon into the atmosphere, the stars greeting her reflecting eyes as they sparkled against her flowing mane seemed a little different from what she remembered and her brightly glowing pink horn seemed stronger and twisted then unusual.
“I Twilight Sparkle, promise from here on out. Everlasting every pony else no more, so that there will never be an unhappy ever after for Friendship again. For Equestia, for every-pony and every creature. Friendships from here on out. Will. Last. FOREVER…” A soft laugh escaping from her jaws as her pink shaded eyelashes blinked over starry eyes as her coat reflected the deep, dark purple sky as her short to long, chuckling and emotional laugh carried along the cool breeze as her silver platinum armour shinned against her coat brighter than before.
