Story:  
Apple Gem was trotting down the dirt path of ponyville to see her friend Amber Blossom she wasn’t very pleased with how long her mane was and Amber to give her a haircut her train of thought was cut off when she noticed she was outside her friend’s house also known as rarity’s boutique she smiled a bit and knocked a bit she stepped back a bit to let the door have space to open.  
She smiled as Coco pommel opened the door and greeted her,  
“Oh! hello there Apple Gem! what brings you here?” She said in her usual soft tone  
“Hello Mrs Pommel! i was wondering if Amber is home if she isn’t i can come back later”  
“There’s no need for that! she’s here come inside” Coco said stepping aside letting the mare inside.  
“Thank you Mrs Pommel” she thanked as she trotted towards the main room where she suspected her friend would be.  
“No problem, may tell Amber that i’ll be gone a while?” she asked as she started to walk out of the store.  
Apple Gem nodded just ask Coco turned around and closed the door.
 
She walked into the main room as she saw Amber sitting down on her haunches as she held a wig in her hooves and a brush in her mouth  
Amber looked toward the door and smiled widely as she saw Apple Gem walk in, She quickly set the wig on a mannequin head and set the brush down on a table nearest to her and turned completely towards her friend holding her hooves out gesturing her for a hug the mare smiled and returned the gesture in kind.  
“Apple Gem so nice to see you! we haven’t see each other in a while how have you been dear.” Amber said the huge smile not even faltering a bit  
“I’ve been great thanks, I was actually here to ask a favor of you.”  
Amber raised her eye brow smirking a bit “Really? what kind of favor might it be dear?”  
“I was wondering is you could make my mane shorter i’m not really liking how long it is, it’s covering my eyes and face!”  
This made Amber’s eyes widen and made her gasp “ Why in Equestria would you want to do that?!?! your mane is stunning! i would die to have a mane as long as yours!” She said in a rather shocked voice.  
“R-Really?” Apple Gem asked rather flattered by her friend’s sort of compliment, since Amber isn’t one to want what other ponies have Apple Gem would take her word for it and does why she suggests and in this case not cutting her mane.  
“Of Course Dear! I don’t want to ruin such beautiful natural hair! but i could do this to help you with your problem.” Amber said as she walk over to a shelf and grabbed a long piece of dark teal ribbon and the brush she was using a few minutes prior before walking back to her friend she turned Apple Gem’s head so it was facing away from her giving her easier access to her friend’s mane she used the brush to straighten out Apple Gem’s hair a bit and wrapped the dark teal ribbon into a bow in Apple Gem’s mane before stepping back to admire her work before brushing the ends of Apple Gem’s new ponytail giving it the sort of wavy look and then the front of her mane brushing it back a bit before stepping back again and suddenly squealed in excitement and amazement  
“Oh my GOODNESS you look absolutely gorgeous dear!” she said quickly ask she rushed to find a mirror before rushing back and holding it up so her friend can admire her new mane style.  
“Oh goodness thanks Amber! this is perfect!” Said smiling and giving her friend another hug which she returned.  
They talked awhile about their mutual love for fashion and all things glamorous before Apple Gem looked at the time and noticed that she might of distracted Amber from what she was doing hours prior when she first came in.  
“Oh gosh sorry Amber i probably distracted you from what you was doing!” She said as she started stand up and walk toward the door before Amber stopped her by speaking up.  
“Oh heavens no i needed a little break for mane styling I’ve been doing it for hours this morning i’m glad you came! speaking of which there is a play in the town’s square and I’ve been dying to see it but all our other friends seem to be to busy to come watch it with me and i certainly don’t want to go alone and it’s moving this weekend! i’m sure it’s going to Las Pegasus and that’s way too far! so uhm i was wondering if you would like to go with me?” Amber said the last part rather timidly as if she was scared of rejection and Apple Gem could swear she could see a small blush coating the other mare’s face.  
Apple Gem raised an eye brow and smirked mischievously saying “ you know Amber if you want to take me on a date you could just ask.”  
making the other mare’s face erupt into a blushing mess as she started to stutter.  
“I-I uhh n-no! i meant it as a-a P-Platonic gesture!” Apple Gem Chuckled a bit at her friend’s embarrassment.  
“I know that, i’m just messing with you.come on now, that play won’t be here forever. also your mom Mrs pommel said she’ll be out awhile.” Apple Gem said as she held out her hoof help Amber to get up.  
Amber still rather flustered took her friends hoof with a huff and made her way too the door. With Apple Gem following close behind her.
