Hullo!
 
As you might know, I’ve been drawing #ponymakeover pictures, meaning I take a character in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic universe and design a look for them. Based on them, a fellow pony fan DragonessRuby contacted me and commisioned me to design a drag look for Spike. And here she is!
 
Meet miss Emerald Flame 💚🔥💚🔥💚
 
My customer wished for pink, which I found to be a great color for miss Emerald. Spike’s colors of slightly muted purples and different greens paired with shades of pink reminded me of lilacs and rhododendrons and roses, all those beautiful blooming trees that are at their best in the heart of summer. So I chose the kind of pinks that look like they are glowing in the light, but are not bright neon.
 
Because miss Emerald is on the young side, I thought a look that is cute and joyful, but not too little girly, would be best. A pretty flouncy skirt (with a slit to allow for easier movement) and a top with appliques that bring her colors together felt like the way to go. And our queen here has a definite advantage compared to ponies: she has cute little round but defined shoulders, which I wanted to accentuate with the off shoulder neckline.
 
I thought if I should give her a wig, but I think that wouldn’t quite do her spines justice. If I was a dragon, I would be very proud of my spines and wouldn’t want to hide them under hair, especially since dragons don’t grow hair in the first place :) But a girl can never have too many flowers!
 
The rest was just adding the make up and a few accessories.
 
I think she turned out fabulous 💖💖💖
