Hello, Season 8 Homework Assignments, this week’s comic is based on What Lies Beneath, GUYS THE TREE OF HARMONY CAN TALK! I don’t even care about anything else that happened in this episode! …Well, no, that’s not true. I did find it pretty interesting to look into some of the inner fears and doubts of the Student 6, deepinging their characters and seeing new sides to them. It actually reminds me of the comic I made about the students a couple months ago. But the big take away for me is the character development of the Tree of Harmony! Apparently it’s still growing and gaining new abilities over time, and can now talk and project complex illusions! Do you realize the implications of this!? The potential!? What kind of powers is this thing gonna have a few years down the line? A few centuries? What kinds of things can it tell us? The secrets of magic it must know! Maybe the tree can be more specific with its guidelines for friendship problems now rather than just making everyone guess through pictures on a map!
 
…Of course, we could also do to the tree what we did to Celestia and Luna and reduce this omnipotent being to our level with petty desires and lessened maturity. Honestly, I think I’d be okay with that. I need more Tree of Harmony character study in my life! I’m actually surprised I haven’t seen the fandom do too much with this concept yet, especially since this episode has technically been viewable for weeks now, but I’m looking forward to the kinds of doors this opens!
