Diminishing Returns (-2) affects your roll. You roll a 19 -2 (required 10). Success!
You decide to try buying yourself some time with a distraction. Thinking it over, you figure that if seadogs have as good a sense of smell as either dogs or fish, then you might just have what you need to throw them off your trail.
With that in mind, you leave the shanty, and begin to discreetly crawl back across the bridge. Once by the southern anchors, you pull out the bath bomb from your care package, and drop it off into the abyss, before hurrying up the nearest staircase for cover. When life gives you lemons…
You use Lemon Bath Bomb.
As you continue to improvise your way up crates and ladders, you soon catch a whiff of the heady fragrance slowly filling the air from below. You quickly look over your shoulder you to make sure that you weren’t followed, and spot a few guards diving into the water from the lower platforms. Whether to investigate the scent, or to enjoy a nice bubble bath, you may never know.
When you finally reach the crow’s nest, you find Moonflower waiting for you at the top. She helps you safely cross the short gap between the wooden railing and the stone ledge to the natural opening, and with this last hurdle cleared, you both make it outside together.
The chilly northern wind hits your coat as you scale down the rocky hill to a secluded sandy shore, where your boat lays beached among debris of sunken ships. While Apple Basket finishes up some repairs on deck, you join the others in pushing the small craft back to sea. You then all climb aboard, and set sail off and away from the pirate cove.
As the island is swallowed by the horizon behind you, you take a moment to celebrate your successful escape, thank your seadog friend for the rescue, and return your companions’ belongings.
You give Moonflower’s Magic Saddlebags to Moonflower, and Necklace Pouch to Apple Basket.
Moonflower: “Yay‼ You got all our stuff back!”
Apple Basket: “I’m just glad nopony’s got hurt. Those pirates were hoofin’ some nasty lookin’ weapons.”
With the seadog now at the helm, and no land in sight, you can only guess as to where this adventure will take you next.
