What were you doing around the time they decided to hurt you?

You ask the siren about the events leading up to her capture.

Siren: “Oh, it isn’t just about me. Even you must’ve heard the legends, where brave ponies use their magic to banish their foes to other realms and times.”

Dawn Break: “I think I’ve read a few of those stories. Didn’t the Pillars of Old Equestria once defeat a trio of sirens that way?”

Siren: “(growl) Yes, how noble of them… But since you asked, let me tell you what really happened.

It all started over what might as well be a thousand years ago, when three sirens used some red gems to craft themselves beautiful matching pendants. Little did they know, those weren’t ordinary jewels, but shards of a cursed pony artifact known as the Philosopher’s Stone.

By the time anyone found out, it was already too late; the gems had corrupted all three of them so deeply, it merged with their bodies and minds, and turned them into powerful magic-hungry snakes.

In search of more magic, they left the sea for Equestria. As you can guess, that’s when they were stopped by your precious heroes. But instead of being freed of their curse, they were imprisoned for all of eternity.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, sirens are all you ponies saw in them. So for the hundreds of years to come, every new generation has been honoring the legend; blindly hunting for the rest of us, and banishing us from our own homes.

Sea Swirl: “(Wow…)”

Sweet Biscuit: “(That’s terrible…)”
