CREDITS: Okay, for starters (sense I get inspired A LOT), Dawn Light is inspired by Starburst from Kiana Mai’s NG. So the idea of a big winged floppy Flashlight baby isn’t mine, it’s hers ÙwÚ. Now go to her account and support her PLEASE!!!!❤ She makes the most beautiful and cute drawings!!!!
Since I basically grew up with her (and Lopoddity’s) next generations, you’re probably gonna see a couple of inspirations from them. I’m not necessarily going to copy and paste their characters or ideals word for word, I’m just inspired by a few interesting concepts of theirs and I just wanted to incorporate it into my next gen too. But I’ll try not to make it seem TOO similar to what they have created with their concepts. I’ll just try to use their amazing idea and use it for something else to fit my next gen. If I’m being honest, I’m really paying homage to them because I really love them and look up to them so much to where I cannot have an inspirational character or idea here or there. Heck, I’m inspired by EVERY artist I see! All I’m trying to say is, just go look at their WONDROUS accounts with all of their AMAZING original concepts, and not mine, especially when I credit them! 👌

Now that I got that IMPORTANT necessity taken care of, 😤*inhales* CRUSTY BOOTLEG NG TIME! *exhales*.😞

Dawn Light was a bit of a fragile child growing up. He was very tall and lanky with little to no support from them because of his big heavy wings. Very unbalanced he was, just constantly clumsily falling all over himself every step he took. Flying was hard for him too as the wind would carry him away once he managed to open them with his control. His wings were a nuisance, they would just spring open, whether it be one or the other, or both. Dawn would also experience much back pain, as they were a hassle to carry or keep closed, so they would just droop everywhere. Since Flash vowed to take care of his son so Twilight could handle her Queen duties in Canterlot (and all around Equestria) more efficiently, he had to endure all of the adversities that his poor son was going through. He tried the common technique for out of control wings, which was a wing harness. The harness helped Dawn greatly for a while as it kept his wings in place without him having to keep them closed himself. However, good things always have its consequences. Since his wings were a little too big for the harness, it would create strap-like markings in his feathers and or ruin them. So, of course, Dawn could only wear it occasionally, like to school or other public places…

Now, school is another problem Dawn and Flash (as a parent) had to face. I mean, you can already see where this is going. *Sigh* he was bullied and harassed by unrespectful and ignorant little ponies about his wing harness. Usually when a pony (especially young ponies) has a wing harness, it more than likely signifies that they’re a bad crazy pony and is restrained for a reason. Those little snotty nosed nosey foals wanted to know why he has it on. And with Dawn being the shy colt he was, he never spilled the beans. The bullies would push him around until he would answer… eventually he did. They didn’t really understand and or like the answer they gave him, because they were expecting something along the lines of “Because, I want to run away,” or “Because I like to pounce on others”, and not “Because I have ridiculously big wings”. They thought that his answer was some petty excuse to get out of his situation, but he was being honest. Even though the bullies started pestering little bit less now, because they somewhat understand that anything that Dawn will blurt out may or not be true or false, they still had their curiosity. So they all considered that he might have huge wings and plotted to gang up on him to take his harness off.
But, in the midst of this all, was a little filly who gradually felt sympathy for Dawn, as she sat in the back and watched; this little filly was Starlit Sky (Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst’s daughter) . But, once she eavesdropped on the bullies plotting, she felt inclined to step in. Surprisingly, she won the fight against like five weak bullies (being the smol feisty filly she is). Then afterwards she started being by Dawn’s side to defend him and warn him about the pesky plans those little ponies have on him. Unfortunately, one day, when Starlit was ill, Dawn was at a disadvantage and they did manage to force his harness off and see his big wings. Honestly, at first they were astonished when his stellar wings sprung open…Alas, until he dropped them and fell along with them… And from that day forth, they started nicknaming him Big Winged Freak.

Flash felt very dejected regarding his son’s treatment in public (school). He wishes that he was able to homeschool him or know somepony that could, but he just doesn’t have enough time due to work or somepony else to trust Dawn with (other than his brother and sister-in-law and Dawn’s cousins… Shining Armor, Cadence, and their kids… but they’re busy too). I mean, Twilight, upon checking up on Dawn and Flash from time to time, knows about this school problem and keeps asking Dawn if he would want to go to Ponyville and attend her Friendship School, but he’ll have to leave his daddy. Regardless of the school situation, Dawn would never ever want to leave his daddy. Him and Flash have grown that type of close relationship. Twilight does feel a bit salty about that, but she understands.

Anyway, every now and then, Flash would let Dawn stay home (sometimes for more days or even a week), especially if the bullying has really become out of hand/hoof and if the staff of the school hasn’t been of any help. While he has his son away from school, he too gets a day (or a few days) off of work to just have some son and father bonding that gives Dawn much joy. Flash prays that Dawn will grow into his wings, so they wouldn’t be a trouble for him when he’s older. He always wants the best for his son and would spoil him rotten if he could all day. But if he wants to, then he has to work for it… the money, the bits. So, the poor colt basically has no other choice but to go to school. Well, at least for the most part, after school, if Flash has to work the nightshift (which is every blue moon), then Dawn’s favorite cousin, Flurry Heart will babysit him (in the evening-early morning, because in the morning and afternoon, she has school too). So basically he’ll have a sleepover with her, she’ll take him to school (and the same goes for her) and Flash will pick him up afterwards. In general, Flurry loves to play with her baby cousin as much as she can.
And on the subject of Flurry Heart, with her big wings, she too had similar wing problems. But the difference with her is that she wasn’t born scrawny like Dawn, (in my Headcanon) she was born a healthy big baby. That’s not to say she still didn’t fumble over her wings from time to time, or had any problems in general. It’s just that she could tolerate them better. Though she too got teased at by others, she still learned to ignore those brats and love her wings (horn too). And now as the big and supportive cousin she is, she taught him how to be confident in himself and learn how to love himself for his differences. It was hard for him to accept and or understand what she meant, but overtime, gladly he learned from the ones he loved, to be brave, be strong and to love yourself. And so, he will accept his wings and grow big and strong to support those wings in the future. Unbeknownst to anypony that Dawn Light will later grow to be one of the biggest and strongest stallions out there…
