Here is another family-based headcanon that I wanted to do for a while. This time it’s with Vinyl Scratch and Octavia Melody.
 

 
Vinyl has an older brother, Long Play, who raised her after their parents passed away, when Long was a teen and she a was a little filly.
 
Octavia’s parents are Agreppio Melody and Apple Polish. Both of them teachers at Celestia’s school. Agreppio is a music teacher, while Apple is a biology teacher (regular subjects also thought at the school).  
Octavia is a rare case where two unicorns had a non-unicorn foal, probably because Apple Polish’s mother was an earth pony and Agreppio also has earth pony ancestors.
 
While not part of the picture I want to touch on Fiddlestick. Fiddle is Octavia’s second cousin, as Apple Polish’s mother was an Apple family member, whose brother was Fiddle’s grandfather.
 

 
I was thinking going into more details, but this is enough for now.
 
Long Play is from the comics. He had only one apparence (technically two, in the background from the same comic) , but was stated by someone from the creative team (don’t remember who) , that he’s Vinyl older brother.
 
For Octavia’s parents I decided to have two canon characters from the show. Both of them from the flashback when Twilight got her cutie mark. I actually had Agreppio as Octavia’s father for really long time as a headcanon. And yes, absolutely because of the similar colors, cutie mark and name.XD When I was planning who her mother could be, I was thinking a character who potentially could have a connection to the Apples, because I already had the headcanon that Fiddle is Octavia’s cousin. Hard not to go for a character who has apple in their name and their cutie mark too. ;)  
Plus colorwise it also works, because I could see a pony with earthy colors has earthy colored parents.
