Recently we continued our online pen and paper role playing game of “Tails of Equestria”. In that round our group met quite a few characters I created for their adventures and visited places for which I had done some world building.  
With the players having been shown those images before they are no longer spoilers and I am going to publish them in the upcoming days. I may have to withhold some information that could be told about characters and places though whenever there are any mysteries etc. not yet explored by the players.
 
In the previous round the group had (on board of the Bunte Yak) been beached on the Griffish Isles. And not only do the players have to find help to fix the ship, but also its presence must remain a secret to the authorities and the griffons near the island as it could otherwise cause serious diplomatic problems between Equestria and the Griffons…
 
So here is a map of the Griffish Isles. The shape of the Island and the existence of the town of Trottingham are based on official Equestria maps while the other elements in the map are thought of by me, though often inspired by real life places.  
With the official Nottingham inspired town of Trottingham there I made sure to cover most of the island with the “Shetland Forest” to alude to Sherwood Forest and also include the name of an island that became namesake to a breed of ponies. It made sense to call the river flowing though Trottingham “Trot”, but it is also an alusion to the river trent which flows through real life Nottingham.  
I was delighted to find that not too far south of Nottingham there is a river called Soar, which sounded like it was named by some pegasus cartographer, so I incorprated that real life river. As for the Galloper Sand, the sandbank to the west of the Griffish Isles, that too exists in real life. It is a sandbank off the coast of Kent and it played a role in the historical naval four day’s battle elements of which (minus most of the gruesome stuff) I incorporated into the lore of the battle off the Galloper Sand between ponys and griffons 27 years prior to the events of our pen and paper RPG.  
Any other similarities between the names of places on this map are coincidental as they are solely based on the needs of the adventures the players can experience there and some of the names incorporated the names of characters the players may meet there.
 
To allow for the structure of the parchment background of this map to shine through I reduced the opacity of this map (same as I do with the character drawings I draw on the same background for the game). There is an alternative version of the same map without reduced opacity.
