It never hurts to get started on a character prior to a certain month of the year, so here’s my Griffon boy Gareth in his rainbow-themed swim attire, the same I had him wear in a previous pic I did several months ago but didn’t make it in time to complete before June passed. I feel I can improve it but for now I’m happy with the end results.

Artist’s Tidbit: This pic I did of my MLP Griffon O/FC Gareth was originally planned to be part of a 4-part beach-themed series nearly similar to the one I did a few years back with Sunfyre, Wyldfyre & they’re parents called ‘Fyres At The Beach’, a project I felt inspire to do during the Summer though the name of a new project was still in question. This pic was going to be a late addition since I had finished up Sunny, Wyld and Genette with BGs to come…but while working on it in November an uncertain irl issue reared its ugly head. Due to that I was left conjected and felt the lack of inspiration to draw anything. Even during December when at my job I was placed to watch some Christmas trees I was going to draw to pass the time and I felt the lack of inspiration to do so. I basically hit a point of an uncertain future.

Despite all of that I did took the time to look back and redid the 4 planned works, though this one was still on paper. I drew a couple of ideas from other works of other artists to see how I can do better, though I still have a ways to go. It was due to a trip to my job earlier this week that a rather weird ‘epiphany’ (if I can call it that) came to me that helped me get back to drawing after a few months off, so to speak. So I hope to, at the very least, get a couple of things done with at least 2 non-MLP related things.

With that said I took the chance to changed a few things on Gareth. I had his eyes red for the most part and felt a color of green was best suited for him. I sort of lighten the yellow of his sclera a bit while adding a creamed-color splotch around his eyes. I change the color of his stripes from black to brown while adding a few more to him. I also darken his wings, tail tuft & body outline color to compensate for his stripes. I’m happy with the results.
