OC Project: Antiquity and Belfry
So I’ve been watching OC reviews and rants for the past few weeks and I’ve realized something: I haven’t put up all of my OCs and given proper backstories to most. Some have already been seen, while others have not. I’m going to fix that now with this side project. I have 8 characters, 4 male and 4 female. One of each gender will be paired with the opposite gender that are similar in some way.
Each will receive their backstory and personality in the description, but some may be shorter than others if they already had a description, such as Angeloe.
This is not only a chance for me to flesh out my own characters, but also a way for people to give me feedback on them. Tell me what can be improved, what should stay the same, or even if their designs should be tweaked.
Anything is welcome!
Prepare for a wall of text!AntiquityEven though she's more of a pony-sona, that doesn't mean she doesn't have her own personality. She's definitely more upbeat than me, always looking on the bright side of things and doing her best to keep order and peace in the situation. She was raised in a pretty stable (no pun intended) family with one sister, Crystal Shore. She was very quiet as a filly, often going off on her own as she disliked large crowds. Because of this, she had plenty of time to draw and learn the basics of art. She learned to express herself more openly through this and found her niche through art. In fact, it was the day she won the local art competition that she got her cutie mark, a blaze and drawing utensils to show her deep passion for art. In her later years, she started a successful gallery and art shop. She's inspired more by nature and animals, especially the rare and unique. She finds particular interest in flying beasts and the whole flying concept in general. Sitting out on a nice, clear day with her sketchbook and a close friend to talk her ear off is her idea of a relaxing time.
Belfry
BTW, I totally made a vampire pony before they became canon. Belfry was bat-pony before it was even cool! Llama Emoji-48 (I’m Cool with Mah Sunglasses) [V2]
Anyway, Belfry is the son of a wealthy business pegasus in Canterlot. After a flying accident that left him a weak flyer, his father started a business that sells flight injury products. He met Belfry’s mother, a mildly successful opera singer, and started a family.
Belfry was the first-born (his younger sister came a few years later). He was a happy, go-lucky young colt until one family vacation. His family went on a camping trip near the outskirts of the Smokey Mountain. Belfry was separated during a hike and wandered aimlessly about the forest. He was suddenly ambushed by a mysterious creature that would have killed him if he hadn’t tumbled to safety into a shallow lake. His family found him a few minutes later, battered and bruised with a strange mark on his side. They quickly ended the trip to help Belfry. He recovered soon after, but started having odd cravings and staying up late.
One night, during a full moon, his feathered wings became webbed, his eyes a deep red, and jagged fangs burst from his gums. Though horrified by the sudden transformation, Belfry flew from his bedroom into the deserted town’s square. He came across a straggling merchant pony clearing out his stall. With nopony around, Belfry instinctively lunged at him and drained every drop of blood from his body. The sudden nutrients cleared his mind, and he was horrified at what he’d done. He fled in a panic and hid in his room until the sun rose the next day.
Fearful of killing another pony again, Belfry spent the next few years honing his transformation skills and learning how to sustain himself without killing the victim. He also learned to travel outside of Canterlot once a month to feed so as not to attract unwanted attention. He now spends his days preparing for the day he inherits his father’s business.
Belfry is naturally good-natured, but is often stricken with mild paranoia in times of uncertainty. He’s become a descent business pony and possess a calculating mind. He prefers situations based more in facts and logic than anything dealing with emotions, as he doesn’t trust himself enough. Grand social events make him uneasy, but he’s had to endure considering his family’s social status. He does, however, love spending time with his younger sister, always playing with her and teaching her more about what he knows. His special circumstances have made him an avid defender of his family and business. He does not find fault with doing whatever it takes to secure their fortune.
