A quest’s end - an endless hunger satiated.
From Grim’s Diary:
We were all so very exhausted the day after our ordeal that longest night. That I did not think much about Mivera’s sunken face as she finally came to join us for breakfast that morning. The table was set, like always, with a myrriad of delishious food. Her mother even helped us prepare, as best she could, in her new found aviant state.
Mivera seemed to not notice any of it. She just starred at the dinner plate in front of her, her eyes still red from the trying night, as if she had never seen a cuisine before.
I finally attempted to break the silence by asking her to participate. Her face seemed to grow even more distant. Her eyes even more glossed over with confusion, as she finally stammered forth the words.
“I am not hungry.”
It took a few moments before the true weight of those words hit us. Mivera all the hardest. The wave of emothions and realizations crashed down all at once. Sending her into shivers and tears as her face twisted, unable to settle on any one expression, and she began to sweat, before she finally broke down in tears.
We abandoned breakfast to comfort our friend. I’de lost all apertite as we had to help Mivera deal with the loss of hers. As I realized that this was a state of being truly alien to our friend. I can not ever hope, not wish to imagine, what its like for someone to have a lifetime of torment suddenly lifted from your shoulders, coped with the burden of the terrible cost that it all had come at. Though there should be joy, there was also the emptyness. The unmistakable missing part of something that had always been there, replaced only with the uncertainty of how to handle it.
