10 years ago, Nightmare Moon would stand before a crowd of earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi and be met with gasps of horror at best and boos of disgust at worst. But it was not 10 years ago, since then, Equestria had changed. Long gone were the days of Equestrian stagnation, long gone were the days where ancient monsters and villains threatened the wellbeing of all, long gone were the days of isolation and weakness. In fact, long gone was the day itself. Now, on this night, ten years after her return, the ponies by and large loved and trusted their new Empress, their Empress that brought them out of vulnerability, their Empress that uplifted thestrals as the respected and integrated fourth tribe of Equestria, and their Empress that would usher in the New Lunar Millennium!
 
oh and they use magic to make sunlight invisible while technically maintaining a day/night cycle, thus creating the appearance of eternal night without ecological collapse, if you were wondering
