i’m working on requests, I promise. but I had a headcanon and I had to put it down ^^;
anyway
so, in my universe, Broken Heart and Flurry get married
(they’re both around the same age. Flurry is actually the eldest of the two, she is just surprisingly dinky)
Brooke and Flurry were acquaintances for the longest time. of course, seeing the close relations between Sombra’s kingdom and the Crystal Empire, visits were going to be made, and when they were younger, Flurry and Brooke would play together while their parents did political stuff that they couldn’t understand yet. but as they grew older, and began managing their own stuff, those visits became fewer and farther in between, until they only ever saw each other once a month or so. even then, it was just glanced shared in a hallway, or a short conversation here and there.
at this time, Broken Heart was far from taking his role as prince seriously. he was an edgy boi, that had a mohawk 24/7 and wore a massive hoop earring. but once the Umbrum were found, and began integrating themselves into Sombra’s city, he realized that his parents would need all the help they could get. he volunteered to actually help in the whole royalty thing, pssh, whatever.
unfortunately for him, the first step in that was forging an official political alliance between The Crystal Empire and Sombra’s kingdom.
Equestrian royalty is still old-school, in that most political alliances are created through marriage and personal relations between kingdoms. for example, a political alliance was created between The Changeling Kingdom and Equestria via the marriage of Princess Luna to Prince Pharynx. so this was the same deal.
of course, Brooke wasn’t happy about it. he was hoping to, ya know, fall in love and get married? but he’d been kind of hopeless in that regard. Sombra and Sunburst weren’t happy to force it on him, either, but it had to be done somehow. so, at the age of nineteen (quite young, yes), Brooke was sent off two days before his marriage to the Crystal Empire, to become further acquainted to his future beloved.
Flurry Heart is a bit quirky. she’s constantly yapping, overly enthusiastic and cheerful, constantly beaming. it was a bit overwhelming for Broken Heart, an easily-irritated, brash, pessimistic stallion. but the two actually grew to be friends. and they remained friends until they were wedded to one another in the Crystal Empire a few days later (Brooke had to iron his hair flat to the side of his face for it, and he was not a happy boi XD)
the newlyweds would not be remaining in the Crystal Empire (Flurry has more than enough siblings to care for the place in her stead). rather, they would be living in Sombra’s kingdom, so the Umbrum could become more accustomed to pony royalty.
Sombra and Sunburst were very happy to have Flurry in the family. they’d spent a lot of time with her while Sombra was being healed and reformed, and she had grown quite fond of them as well. the couple was also very proud of their son, who was finally taking his role seriously. Sombra and Brooke, who would normally be at each other’s throats, would actually be relaxed around one another for once, and they would later cease fighting altogether as Brooke settled into ruling.

• Flurry doesn’t really rule in Sombra’s kingdom, and it makes her feel kind of awkward there. she does act as an authority figure, and is respected as such, but she doesn’t do any of the important stuff.
• Sunstar doesn’t like Flurry. she doesn’t hate her, but she doesn’t like her, either, and she isn’t sure why. Flurry tries to act nice around her, but it can be difficult when the princess is so unintentionally hostile.
• Brooke and Flurry, much like Luna and Pharynx, never really come to love each other. they do end up having a romantic relationship, but it isn’t all that lovey-dovey when compared to Brooke’s parents, for example.
• Brooke and Flurry end up having two twin foals :3 their refs come later
• in my universe, Flurry Heart isn’t actually an alicorn. she’s just…a unicorn, with wings. yes, that is it, and yes, I am ignoring all the mega-powerful abilities she has in the show. Alicorn status is earned, not given for free. however, the commonfolk don’t know this. they think she’s just as powerful as Celestia and Twilight, when in reality she has the abilities of your average advanced unicorn (though she is on the higher end of the ability spectrum, she’s not nearly as strong as auntie Twi). this fact was only figured out when she was an adolescent. only her parents, doctors, and other royalties know, and it is a closely guarded secret.
• Broken Heart actually changed his name went he went through his ‘emo phase’. his original name is Valentine, or Val, for short (i might change that later). only his family knows this, and Flurry uses it to tease him all the time.
