6 of Swords, or ‘Science’, is a card of transition and change, a kind of rite of passage; reversed, it is unfinished business and resistance to change. I chose Spike for this card because of his fear of growing up and what that change will bring (Growing Pains).
 
Here, he is depicted on a boat, looking nervously at the choppy waters, stirred up by a version of his older self which is vast and hidden in the waves – only six spines are visible above the waves. However, the water farther out is tranquil, suggesting that when he crosses a certain point, it will all be, as it were, smooth sailing.
