Mulberry stays perfectly still, not wanting to alert the thing to her presence. The moments tick on as she hears sloshing in the barrel, the dragging of something against the sand, a splash, and then silence.
 
The mare waits a few more seconds, and not hearing anything she peaks over the side of the cart. Seeing no fish-pony monstrosity anywhere, she leaps out in front of the cart and drags it away towards the smokehouse as fast as she can. When she gets around the corner and out of sight she peers back towards the beach.
 
She sees another one of the fish monsters emerge. It stares at the barrels and carts for a second, and then let’s out a wet, screechy sort of yell. A few seconds later more of the monsters pop up. They seem to be discussing something, but Mulberry can’t tell what.
