I was inspired to draw a pony with a wheelchair after coming across pictures of the kind used for dogs. I hadn’t really seen it done before with mlp ponies, and really it was just fun designing the chair and contemplating how it could work in the pony world. And thus Storm Lotus was born.

Storm Lotus was skilled at flying through harsh weather, especially blizzards, and was frequently assigned on the teams dealing with them. However things went awry when clearing out a storm that brought with it large chunks of hail. When one of his wingmates got hit and went down, Storm went after him to try and save him from hitting the ground. Just as he caught him, a rogue wind caught them and slammed them against a nearby cliff wall. In protecting his injured wingmate, Storm took the brunt of the impact in a bad way to his back. The fall to the ground after only exacerbated it, and left him with paralysis in his lower back and legs. His days on weather patrol were over, and he was forced to settle for living on the ground doing menial jobs. He was greatly depressed for the longest time, sinking deeper and deeper into misery and he became a rather nasty pony in general. After a run in with ponies named Mello Jello and Rainbow Crack, he slowly started to come around and return to the pony he had been before his accident. He’s now close friends with the two of them, and joins them on many of their crazy ass adventures. They also do their best to accommodate Storm’s disability.

I like to imagine that his wheelchair is made of a strong yet lightweight material, allowing him to fly when needed (albeit in probably a slow awkward manner, and not for very long periods of time). The design will likely change over time as i come up with new ways for it to look.
