Bonus points if you know what gun she’s holding without looking at the tags (I hope you do).
This is my largest scene build yet! I was going for a mix of forest and meadows, and I feel pretty good about it. Now about the grass GRASS. OH GOD THE GRASS. ITS EVERYWHERE. SOMEONE SEND HELP. I CANT BREATH. I tried adding some irregularities to it to make it more realistic. I could have added more, but the grass field was quite large already. I also could have make the grass a particle to cut down on performance issues, but I just brute forced it (RIP GPU). Another time I’ll learn how to use models as particles. The trees were arranged into a light forest with the grass to create that meadow scene that I was looking for. In the future, I would like to work on hills or slopes that aren’t just flat terrain.
Now for the props. The ammo and equipment casing are pretty self-explanatory. I tired a tilted case top on the bin to the left. The wood table was an interesting set. I manually placed moss and plant growth to reinforce the idea that the table had been out in the field for a long time and that this was a common “hunting ground” for AJ. The shirt and elbow and knee pads were all modified for a woodland camo pattern, which is quite fitting with the scene. One of the most difficult parts of this project was the armor set. I really work with it to get it to fit well enough on AJ, but it looks like that work paid off. Lighting was another experiment, especially with maintaining the feel of the meadows and light forest. I ended up adding trees so that the patches of light were not intense and made the tree placement look patchy. Editing mostly consisted of balancing shadows and light levels with a few other enhancements. Overall, I’m happy with the outcome! There’s definitely still a lot of room for improvement, but its also good “as is”. Let me know what you liked, disliked, or other comments you have on the piece. Critique is welcome!
