Back to old habit of trying to draw refs for avatarjk137’s oc’s since they only exist in description and needs illustrations.

This is Day Late, a minor character from Avatar’s pony blog Red Velvet Recalls, about the serial killer earth pony Red Velvet and his time in prison.
She was among the inmates if the maximum security wing for ponies with life sentence for their crimes. Don’t let her innocent, guilt ridden looks deceive you. She had the highest death count compared to her inmates. She just happen to be the only one of them regretting her crime.
She lost her wing due to an injury so bad it had to be amputated, and the issues it caused later eventually made her snap and poison dozens of pegasi attending the diner in the clouds she worked at.

The one of her with the red wing is when Red Velvet used his potion skills and blood magic to regrow her a new wing after all the hardship they went through.

The sketch in the top right corner was among the first I drew, the others came later with adjustments when avatarjk137 let me know some details I missed out on. Like the scars. But I got her colours right in first try. Which is nice. ‘Cuz I did fiddle around with the tones a lot, since all I had to work with was her being “sunset coloured”. And sunsets come in many colours.
For the most part the design here is based on how I imagined her to look every time I read a part she was featured in, on Avatar’s blogs.

Well, Day Late is our most recent inmate - been here about a year and a half now. She’s a sunset-colored pegasus, about five years younger than I. She’s from Wingfield, an all-pegasus cloud village smaller than Cloudsdale. She’s also the only inmate to have voluntarily undergone psychotherapy from me. I do take doctor-patient confidentiality seriously, so I’m only going to tell you what’s on the public record and a few very general things.

Day Late has had a long history of apparently mild psychological issues. In broad strokes, she’s spent her whole life making impulsive decisions she came to regret. She was a delivery pony for most of her adult life, until one day she had an awful accident trying to make a delivery in a windstorm, and one of her wings had to be amputated. She ignored all of her friends’ advice to move somewhere at ground level and remained in Wingfield, even though she would have to give up her old job anyway, and she was stuck in town, unable to leave without several ponies’ help.

She apparently recovered and got a job as a waitress (one wing is still very useful to hold a tray of food or drinks), but became depressed and paranoid, growing to believe that the rest of the town thought her a disgrace or a laughingstock or a load - fear of failure is incredibly common among pegasi, if you haven’t noticed. One day, she snapped. While a town council was held in the diner she worked at, she poisoned… pretty much everypony. She killed dozens in one fell swoop, culling over a quarter of the town population, and fled the scene, only to turn herself in that night to the remainder of the town’s authorities, hysterical with grief and guilt. The reason I consider her so sympathetic is that she’s the only pony in this wing who truly regrets her crimes… but the fact of the matter is that she actually has the highest body count of any of us, and society considers some things unforgivable, even if you say you’re sorry and really, truly mean it.

My professional opinion is that Day Late is a total buckup, and probably deserves to be here just because she is occasionally a danger to herself and others, but she’s a sweetheart and she’s really nice to talk to when she’s not too depressed. I’ve had neighbors whose deaths left me overjoyed, but I would be disappointed if Day Late went and died on me.
