This was more than just a vow renewal to them. Both Turq and Firefly, and so many other family members, missed the first wedding, for it was held during such a tumultuous time. Now, Holly and Candy could celebrate their love with almost all of their loved ones, and the newer additions to the family, without worry. This evening, they would only think about love.
Turq turned her gaze from her daughter to her partner. Yes, partner, that’s what she was. No use in denying it now. Turq would argue that Firefly looked just as beautiful as the brides.
“This is nice…I’m glad we’re here to finally celebrate the love between our kids.”
“We might not have been there the first time, but I’d say this is pretty perfect,” Firefly looked out at the scene before them. “We can forget all the shit from the past. All that really matters is right here.” As she said this, she remained focused on Turq.
They watched their daughters say their “I do’s,” as lovingly now as they surely did years ago. Their love never faded over the years, it only grew, just as their family did. Turq and Firefly themselves had found a new love of their own, after all the heartbreak they had both gone through. Firefly’s hoof slipped around Turq’s as their daughters professed their love to each other, like this was their moment too.
“Ma! Momma! Come up here!”
And so Turq and Firefly, and Ollie and Hydie, joined the brides at the altar. This day wasn’t just about Holly and Candy, or Turq and Firefly, it was about all of them as a family. It was about the good and bad they had all been through, the ponies that had come and gone from their lives and shaped them into who they were. It was about all the highs and lows that made them stronger.
With these vows of love and devotion renewed, they were prepared to face whatever the future brought.
